Root hello from the new guy

hi to all this is first time posting anything. i have really enjoyed the forums and have found some very useful info. i dont know if this is the right spot to ask questions but i need lil help. yesterday 01-09-13 i rooted my prevail using odin and the ff19 rooted zip that has cwm5. then i flashed ctmod3.75.2 which is a great mod thanks to the many developers. anyway my prob is i cannot download apps from google play store. it says downloading but doesnt do anything. i read a few post about clearing the data and cache from playstore and service framework and then rebooting but i still have same prob. any and all ideas are welcome and will be helpful. thanks for listening/reading:)

I know im kinda repeating what you stated to have done, but have you cleared dalvik-cache and cache from the recovery mode?
Its done by turning off the phone.
Rebooting
(holding Vol+ and power button as its turning on)

Once you are in CWM (should be a bunch of blue letters with an android package background)
On the first section clear cache. Nothing else. You dont wanna do something thatll make your time harder.

Now go to advanced .
Then clear dalki-cache.
Hopefully this helps.

If not you can try these small tips:
Power on your phone and head to;
Settings> account and sync
Here make sure "background data" is turned on. (You can also turn on sync for your gmail account for just for trouble shooting. )

How long did you wait after signing into the play store? I know that happens to me when I first flash cm because its not updated to the newest version of the play store... once it upgrades itself it works fine after that.
you are right i got impatient. actually while i was making post the app i was downloading came thru i just didnt check it. i guess i had a blonde moment lol. i did what rarewolf said and it made download work faster. thank you to both of you guys.
