Last night while playing with my sons MID 7" tablet trying to download the app for Kindle books, I accidentally uninstalled the ANDROID 4.0 operating system! The screen is touchy and you would think that this would be locked since it is the operating system. :( I was not able to go into settings to do a factory reset, so my question is.... is there a way to do a hard reset or to reinstall Android 4.0? This has been a great tablet for my 7 yr old, he loves it. I can't afford to replace it and am sick about what happened. I've been googling it trying to find an answer with no luck, I'm hoping (and praying) someone here can help. :)

welcome to the forums!!!!!!
how did you delete the os? you can't do that unless you are rooted. otherwise you do not have access to the system partition do wipe the os.

what exactly did you do?

Thank you! And I'm sorry, but I don't know what you mean by being "rooted" but all I did was go into settings and apps (I believe) the screen is very touchy and instead of scrolling up or down it opened the Android 4.0 tab and instead of closing out of it to go back to where I was, it uninstalled the app. :( The tablet I have is an MID M729B (MID Google Android 4.0 1.2GHz 4GB 7" Tablet PC)

rooting is like jailbreaking for an iphone. rooting basically you bypass the phone's securities which you can then change admin rights so that you have permission to change whatever you want on the device. as it is right now without root you will not be able to wipe the os.

so i'm a bit curious as to what exactly you deleted. now when you went into the settings of your tablet and into apps, did you go into the download, running, or the all tab?

the all tab will list all of the apps including the system apps. however without root you can only disable apps not delete or uninstall them.

so does your tablet boot up? what happens when you turn it on?

After it uninstalled it turned off and when I turned it back on, the little android guy :) appeared and started opening up like normal (turning into the little ice cream sandwhich android guy LOL), but it just sits there and never goes to the home screen.
not sure, but on most android devices you can get to the bootloader when the device is off by pressing the power+vol down buttons. fromt he bootloader there should be an option to do a factory reset.......might help.
oh ok, I went into the "all" tab, so if I just disabled it, how do I restore it?
there should be an enable option
I also connected it to my computer to see if I could fix it that way, but it couldn't find the device driver.
not sure with your device some sometimes you while need the device driver for it to work with your pc.
