I haven't e mailed them...I don't appreciate being treated like a mushroom...I was making an observation about how now it is google's fault and last week it was HTC's fault....

Something that's kept in the dark and fed shit. Basically like those that constantly check this forum for a mythical update on 2.1 I would hate to be the ones that bought this phone back in November. I just bought mine a little over a month ago. I'm happy using v2 of leaked 2.1 thanks to this forum. I love my Eris, wouldn't trade it for anything. Thanks to all the forum veterans that help us newbs.
Ya know, everyone here would be much happier if people just stopped reporting on all these pointless communications. None of them have provided any real insight ... they just pointlessly stir the pot.
Bottom line is this: everyone will get 2.1 soon enough, and those who want it now can obtain and install it themselves with ease. So there's really no reason to get worked up about these nonsensical interactions with Verizon or HTC reps.
I think it is a horrible tease that the e-mail Verizon sent me last week "introducing" me to my newly acquired Eris shows artificial screen-shots of the phone running Google Maps Navigation, and a nicer-looking Marketplace...
Not exactly Our Notification bar at the top on our Eris is black, not white and last time I checked, it rotated horizontally only when turned onto it's left side, not right. Someone in Verizon's marketing department needs smacked. (Yes, I'm nit-picking -- it's late, I'm allowed... heh).

For what it's worth, just received by e-mail from VZW in response to question about when 2.1 will be released for the Droid Eris:
Dear.....:
Verizon Wireless has yet to obtain any credible feedback from Google, regarding the release of a 2.1 device firmware for the HTC DROID Eris ADR6200 Smartphones. Once available, the OS release will be automatically delivered to your handset for download and installation...
It is amazing to me that every tier1 support guy at VZW has to make up his own reply to this question - and they must get this hundreds of times a day. Someone in management there needs to be taken out and shot (figuratively speaking only - no physical threat intended. Please do not hold up the release in retaliation.)
I just got off the phone with 5 different Verizon tech guys. They were all very excited and they all told me the exact same thing. It is Wendy's birthday and they are all eating cake. Just thought you guys would like to know.
couple quick questions for anyone who could answer..does anyone else still have the problem when getting a text from a lg phone to an eris with over 160+ characters saying its not supported..i keep having this prob from an env touch to an eris..is there anything that solves this??
and second if anyone has a google voice invite could they pm me please?? thanks in advance..
Kidding, I have to wonder if the 2.1 that was "leaked" was the near final version Google was planning on releasing to the Eris before they pulled the plug.
