Help Desire takes >5 mins to shut down

Thanks guys. No, 5 minutes wasn't an exaggeration. I select "power off", put the phone down, come back a few minutes later and it's still shutting down. I'm not running a huge number of apps, so perhaps (when I've got some time on my hands!) I should uninstall them all and see if that helps. I could then re-install one at a time to find the problem.

Advanced Task Killer shows the following running:
Music, calendar, fm radio, people, clock, shopsavvy, color note, footprints, googlemail, London tube status, engadget, settings, market, juice defender, Facebook, messages, internet, advanced task killer.

If i close all 3rd party apps the phone shuts down in seconds, so now its just a process of elimination to find the offending app...

Yesterday I had the same problem. If it helps I had just installed shop savvy when it started to play up. Was shutting down fine before then.

Yeah the Hero shuts down in an instant. The Desire takes longer, but not 5 mins. half a minute i think. Is 5 mins an exaggeration?! If you have lots of apps running in the background then it might take longer i suppose.

Yes, i was waiting for mine to shut for over 5mins and then i got so fed up i took the battery out. Like you say it probably had something to do with the amount of apps running in the background, as when i switched it on and then off after a minute or so it shut down within 30 seconds or so.

I had had this problem and i have brought it down to the phone being really hot due to high usage. It shuts down quickly when i havnt been using it but if i have been using it heavily for an hour or so (browsing, games, videos) and then turn it off it takes 5mins!

The solution, for me, was to close all apps, background tasks, wifi, etc, etc and then let it cool down for a few mins before i shut it down.

Yeah I'm experiencing this! Just attempted to shut down and it was over 15 mins before I have in and just took on the battery.

Before I tried i used the task manager to kill everything but: internet, gmail, calendar, weather, settings and 3g watchdog.... gonna uninstall 3g watchdog and see how that goes....

Admittedly it had been close to a weeksinve my last shutdown.

i'm experiencing exactly the same issue as you guys - have installed and used 'advanced task killer' to no avail so i'm by no means convinced this is the solution

out of interest, is it actually necessary to regularly turn your phone off if you dont have to? i never need to switch sims or memory cards so can i live happily with my phone constantly switched on?

cheers fellas

well i got the same problem one or two times e 1st two week i bought the phone
but then since i already customized e phone n installed the invisible shield..i dont really bother to get a refund or anything..i decide to juz put up wif e problem n find the cause..after all, it most definitely not a hardware issues..so it can be fixed somehow

well, now i dont really bother to shut down e phone(since when we called turn off the phone as shut down?lol)n the problem doesnt reappear for some reason..i dont really do anything wif the phone..no tweaking wif setting..no installing some weird tools..no etc2..so i guess.its juz a hit n miss problem..it might occur but doesnt bother me to much..well thats for me..i dont really turn off the phone occasionally

well, might not be any help at all..i juz wanna share..cheers =D
