I've got a ? About this shared plan nonsense

You are basing this off of what facts?

Largest install base. VZW.

More new customers. VZW

More customers gained than customers lost. VZW

Unless you know how to cheat the system and jail break phones, you aren't going to get a phone you want on T Mobile prepaid.

Most people use far more than 100 minutes a month.

Nexus 4 is one of the hottest phones out there. People waited months to get their hands on it.... Actually you can slap a T-Mobile sim in just about any unlocked phone. That's the whole point of unlocked phones, take your phone with you to each carrier. Why be chained down to one? Locking you in is bad for the consumer and good for vzw.

Like I mentioned above, there are numerous ways around the 100 minutes. Frankly I could deal with 100 mins very easily without those methods.

50 bucks a month savings over VZW $80/month that was quoted before. And its unlimited data.

The landscape is changing. I'm not sure why you're defending Verizon with such vigor.

Not to mention the company that has the $14/month plan...

Verizon 3Q profit rises, bolstered by wireless - Yahoo! Finance

As of October 2012

Revenue increased 4 percent to $29.01 billion from $27.91 billion. That also matched analysts' expectations.

Verizon Wireless added a net 1.5 million devices to contract-based plans in the third quarter, more than it has in many years. Analysts were expecting it to add about 900,000. Including non-contract devices, overall additions were the strongest in four years.

VZW after adding new plans. Increased Revenue, Profit and Customers.

Yup, that share everything plan was a colossal failure.

Read the comments of that very same article you posted.

Verizon gets service where most other carriers don't. That's the only reason I'm still with them.

That is true for everyone I know on Verizon. Of course, everyone I know (in my area, anyway) is in Verizon. As long as they dominate coverage area, they can get away with their pricing/plans, but when that changes, they'll have to make some serious changes to compete.

People are to blind sided by TV commercials for mainstream carriers, tmo, metro, boost, VM, cricket, straight talk, simple mobile, even Google voice/VoIP are all companys you rarely see information about,..90% of the people in phone stores don't know what they are taking about either when it comes to comparing carriers, and most of those prepaid work off of other towers of those mainstream carriers

I can give you 4 other company's that'll save you $290...

And I'll show you how bad Sprint and AT&T is in my area over Verizon.

:)

Besides, I only pay half of that $290 so that's fine. I paid $100 a month with Straight Talk for their horrible service here with my Android. I pay $45 more and that's fine. I can use my data how I want and can stream to my hearts content (within my data cap). Straight Talk irritated me too much...especially when they offer unlimited data and it's nowhere near that.

It's in the straight talks customer agreement that they can disconnect your service if you stream video and or music.

Unlimited Data. Perfect for checking emails and websites but dont you dare use it for anything to heavy!

I've been with Verizon for 20yrs, because of their customer service and coverage.

I have 4 lines...2 smart, 2 dumb. 1400 mins, Friends and Family, unlimited text, and 2x Unlimited Data plans... $205/month with a corporate 22% plan discount. If I switched to the Share Everything plan, I'd be paying an additional $25-30/month.

We got 2 GS3s for $.96 each from Sam's Club on the Black Friday deals. I was also able to keep the Unlimited Data plans by using the dumb phone upgrades, then swapping numbers. In 2yrs, I can do the same thing again.

I know it's in their terms. But it's really just a load of crap.

I'm really hoping someone finally sues Straight Talk for false advertisement.

Not going to happen because their advertisements are 99 percent based on their terms and conditions. And when you sign up for an account with them, activate a phone, this that or the other, it's based off of you having reviewed their customer agreement.

It's also based on unlimited phone calling. However in their terms and conditions, you can have your account disconnected if you make too many phone calls in a row.

I love how people cry about VZW and champion the little guy.

Last time I checked, VZW isn't going to disconnect your service if you use your phone too much or if you use Youtube or Pandora while connected to their signal.

I would be floored if it wasn't in their terms and conditions that they can terminate service for any reason.

Beside the point, it's not unlimited. It's already in the terms and conditions that if you go over your data limit they kill on you on overages.

You are actually paying per service, they don't care if you abuse it because it's just more money in vzw pockets

Ooooo really. Thats why everyone I know who works for VZW is trained and instructed to notify the customer about what the overage rate is, to check their myvzw account to monitor data usage , connect to wifi when available.

Yup, VZW makes a ton of money ripping off their customers. Then you realize all of the hidden costs. The fact that VZW is paying some service rep about 15 bucks an hour to handle an escalated phone call for a customer who went over their data plan 1gb and was charged 15 bucks. Customer calls in to complain about their bill and VZW has to pay for the phone call, the service, the call center, the rep, their supervisor, their supervisor, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc. Then you realize that 1gb of overage lead to VZW breaking even. Then you realize that VZW has all of their plans and overage provided on their Website VZW.com , brochures and pamphlets, etc. You act like VZW hides all of this info away from the customers.

But hey, VZW has their reps take a gun out and brings it to the customers head and forces to sign up for a contract and plan.

To be fair, the CFO of Verizon said before they launched the SE plans that the point of them was to either get people to pay a lot for a safety data limit and add many devices, or charge a boat load for overages.

Though the prices are steep in my mind, what really angered me was that I actually received a call from them trying to convince me to change to the plan claiming it would save me money. I had already done the math and calculated that it would cost me an extra 30 dollars a month. After repeating as much to the rep, they continued to state that it would save me money in the long run. LOL, What?

Verizon can only rip you off if you allow yourself to be ripped off. You are ultimately in charge of what you spend or don't spend.
Exactly.

First, companies are not a charity. They are in business to make money.

Second, if one doesn't read "the fine print" on the contract that they sign, that is their fault...not the companies.

It's like when people bitch about the banks charging them overdraft fees. Hello! Don't overdraft your account and no fees will be charged.

Nope, they're not making anyone use their services.
Yep, they are ripoffs, especially the big boys. Some of their changes, for the worst, happens after you're a customer.

The wife & I was on separate plans when we first got with vzw, but after the SEP come out, we saving about $25 but I lost 2gb of data on the data plan. I wasn't on the unlimited when I started.

I agree, companies aren't charity. Verizon is well aware that they have the best coverage, and charge according to it.

Warning: Rant
The things I don't personally like are the anti consumer attitude they have tried over the past couple of years. Eventually they'll pull a Netflix because they will push their customers too far and it will come back to bite them.

I don't think I would mind the SE if they had at least left the option of choosing the old plans for both new and current customers that wouldn't benefit from the SE plans, such as single line users.

Their handling of Google wallet makes me want to puke. Since ISIS went live in Austin & Salt Lake City, how is it legal to block competition from consumer use and why hasn't the FCC or FTC slapped them down for this.

I completely understand them not wanting to provide free tethering to unlimited data plan, but to actually charge customers extra to use tethering on their limited data plan was outrageous and it actually took the FCC slapping them down to give in.

I don't know how many people remember last year when they got greedy enough to try and pass the charge the credit card companies charge them onto the customers, just because they thought they could get away with it. Well, let's just say they found out otherwise.

There's not a soul on this site that believes that Verizon handles updating android phones. I can't count many time I have scrolled across threads where members complain about how their device still hasn't gotten an update yet. The HTC Thunderbolt was promised ICS, which was released over a year ago, and it still hasn't received it. Some of them blame falls on HTC, but most is on Verizon. We see how long it takes these OEM's to release these updates for their International non-branded versions, and Verizon takes on average 2-3 months longer if not more.

I'm sure there's more, but that seemed like a good list. Even more so because most of this is within the last 12 months alone.

These are just my personal feelings and nothing more. :)

There's more. I've gone on rants about it over and over. Then I'm left with the reason I'm still with Verizon...... Still get service EVERYWHERE. Contacts with AT&T and T-Mobile are similarly priced. Prepaid you can't roam.
Basically can't complain if there's nothing I'm going to do about it.
Edit: Verizon does what they do because they know they're not losing business to it. And even if they did something stupid enough to lose customers like BoA, Netflix, or godaddy.com, those companies are still rocking.

I was ready to jump ship for the Nexus 4, but then they come with 16GB, and I was just like, where am I going to put my music?
