Help Choosing standard apps doesn't stick

Hi guys!

For some reason when I choose an app to be used by default by choosing the app and then clicking 'Always' I get the message telling me how to reset this by going to Settings-Applications Manager-All and then click the app and scroll down to 'Launch by default' but my choices never stick but instead it says 'No defaults set'. For instance when clicking a link to a forum that supports Tapatalk I choose to open the link used the Tapatalk app and then click the 'Always' button but still when clicking the link next time I will again get the same question what app I want to use to open the link.

I recently rooted my GS3, could that have caused this or does anyone know what might cause this and how to fix it? It's very annoying when you have to pick the app you want to use every time.

Thanks in advance!

I get the same behavior and I am not rooted.

OK, at least good to know it probably doesn't have to do with my mobile being rooted then but still very annoying why this doesn't work as it should!

I also find it strange I can't find more when Googling the problem...

Are you on 4.1.1? I can't get a 3rd party keyboard app to stick as default when rebooting which is a known 4.1.1 bug, so I'm guessing your issue is related. I really hope it will be addressed with the 4.1.2 update- it's REALLY annoying!

I'm sorry to say I'm already on 4.1.2 but I don't have any problems with having my keyboard stick (currently using the SwiftKey Flow Beta) but my problems are only with apps.

Also having the "Always button" does not actually set a default app on S3 TMobile 4.1.2. This is especially annoying on calendar notification links (I only ever use one calendar app) and for making phone call links where it gives the option to use MagicJack every time (I think it did for Skype as well) even though I only want to use the phone.

Seriously there must be a way to fix this.
