Installing Us Stock Rom To Canadian Phone...

Is instaling t mobiles stock rom on my canadian galaxy s2 illegal. Its the only rom that can get the jelly bean through cm 10 if im nog mistaken.**Im with a company called koodo. Now i know android is open source and i know what open source means but is installing another phone rom on your phone illegal. I really want jelly bean. I look at the cm 10 file and it sais t mobile. Is there a way i can find out if this is legal or not. I dont want care about warrenty. I just want to know if i can use it.

I'd like to note that CM10 is indeed based on jelly bean 4.1.2 but is not a stock manufacturer/carrier ROM. If you are planning to root & flash a custom ROM be sure to flash the correct build for your device, there are more than a few different S2 models and flashing an incorrect build can brick your device. You will be looking for ROMs built for the SGH-T989 aka Hercules.

This a million times over.

There are literally 20+ versions of the S2 because it was such a popular and mind blowing device. With this device we have separate subforums for Rooting because you have to use the ROMs for your specific device or something, like Mayhem said, could go horribly wrong.

I would suggest to double check, then triple check, to see if your device is first compatible with ROMs for the T-Mobile S2 before trying anything.

I am assuming they aren't but I do not know your device that well, or well, at least your specific version.
