Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Repeating 0's in sd card files

I keep getting more and more 0's I think it's from flashing roms but idk and its getting really bad. Like I have to go through 6 folders named 0 to get to my files. Anyone know how to fix this? Also I can't even recover to my stock rom because it doesn't show up in TWRP when I choose recover but its because its 6 "0" folders away so its not picking it up.

Do you have the latest TWRP installed? It was supposed to stop the 0 folder pileup. As for the backup file you can boot back into you rom, and move it to the new twrp folder. I never pass up a chance to say how much I hate how 4.2 messes with those files. Lol

I have no idea if I have the lasted TWRP installed. How would I check that? And update date it if needed?

Edit: I just checked and I'm running TWRP v2.3.1.1

Latest is 2.3.3.0

You can flash it in goomanager.

I'm not sure if all 2.3.3.0's are created equaled. Those aren't for metro so I would just avoid them. Install from goomanager is the safest bet. There's no choice it picks and flash for you.

I pulled that from goo I just type twrp and get those two options

Never mind I found it. You just hit menu then install openrecoveryscript

Open goomanager. Tap on your phones menu key and choose install openrecovery script.

The 0 folder is because of the new multiple user account feature in 4.2.

You will have to physically move your files back to where they belong and update to the most recent recovery so that it gets read correctly when flashing a ROM. Clean up the 0 folders and from that point forward it wont create any more 0 folders and your files will not move. I've flashed at least 15 4.2.1 nightlies and haven't had the issue since I made the adjustment the first time.

yes this issue started with me when i was testing new stuff for you guys i believe latest version of twrp is 2.3.3.0 shabby just told me to install new twrp. and like fuzz said just go to last 0 folder take out your download folder and dcim image folder and twrp recovery and move them all the way up and u should be fine. also deleted the other 0 folders they consume lots of space i had 5gb eaten just by having 0/0/0/0

That sounds odd, n4zty. It might be that there were some hidden files somewere in those folders.
Because folder structure does not (noticeably) affect disk usage. A folder only requires a few hundred bytes to work (it's just a pointer/reference to an inode on a disk, and a varchar array to hold its name), so placing the same file at /root/filename takes virtually the same amount of space as having that file in /root/subfolder1/subfolder2/[...]/subfolder1023/filename...
It's just harder to get to / traverse to that file by following its path
I'd say if you still have an image of that filesystem with all those 0s strewn about, have a look-see using some type of disk analyzer and maybe some cookies/booty/bagsOfCereal might be hiding around somewhere in there!

Yea it was no biggie I might have had lots of useless junk in each of those folders I just saved what I needed and deleted the rest. I had 120mb left o's internal storage once I deleted the other 3 zero folders I gained a lot of space back. Also it might of been app data I had in each android folder on noticed in one of them I had tons of data folders from games I had installed. Modern combat 4 is huge so I'm sure that added to the space prob.

make sure inside that folder it has the actual backup recoveries u saved if its blank then u can erase it and check in the other 0 files till u find the ones that have your backups then select it and press move and move it up to your sd card outside of the folder named 0

You're gonna have the zero folder no matter what. It's a part of 4.2 jb. The latest recoveries only stopped them from piling up.

Remember that data/media/0 is the same as the directory straight to your sd storage. So if you delete from the data/media/0 folder it will delete from your sd storage as well as they are the same.
