Help Unlocking HTC Desire

I just ported over to Koodo from Telus with my HTC Desire. I had it unlocked so the koodo sim can work.

It had 2 existing Telus APN's with a lock symbol and they couldn't be deleted. I thought by unlocking the phone it would unlock the APN's but I guess not. I had spoken to a rep at Telus and they said they also do other steps besides providing the unlock code.

But since I am no longer with them they can not do a full unlock so to speak. They can only do it when I am client connected on their network.

My questions is what else do they do to unlock the phone? I assume what ever it is will also unlock their APN's?

Thanks.

Hi sm30,

I don't know what Koodo might do - on most networks they do just provide an unlock code.

There is a SIM-unlocking utility over at XDA-developers here - you could try that and see if it works any better.
Thanks, but since I have already used an unlock code if I try to use this unlock utility will it screw anything up or lock the phone?

So usually by using an IMEI unlock code is it supposed to unlock the carrier's locked APN's?

In general unlocking with a code is enough, but I've done a search and found a couple of examples where it wasn't (only one was a Desire, and they never reported back!). There are some people recommending an app to fix it in this thread, though they did have different phones: http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=4656951.

Re the unlock utility, people have used it after network supplied codes have failed, but I think your problem is different, so no promises. As you'll see from comments at the start of that thread this apn locking is not common (SUroot used to be the most prolific poster in this forum, and he'd not met it before).
