Task Killers...Yea or Nay?

So after finding out about androids ability to "get to know the user", not wasting memory etc on processes that have been idle, i am beginning to rethink using a task killer. it seems to me that by killing the apps, im circumventing the whole "getting to know you" aspect of the android OS.
what are some thoughts on this?
my last hard reset was when i installed the 2.1 v2 leak the day it was released. ATK was one of the first applications i installed, so im thinking that the phone hasnt had a chance to get to know me at all.
i would have no problem uninstalling ATK, however when i dont kill apps my internal memory drops to below 30M and the phone obviously runs much slower.

my question is whether it would be better to continue as i have been, with ATK or suffer through the introductory phase as the OS figures out what i do and do not use.
clearly ATK is better short term but in the long run....

There's a thread on that somewhere around here... Hmmm. :)

i looked. find it for me and ill be happy to close this one out. i searched for task killers, taskillers, killer, killers, and task.
came up on a lot of threads mentioning that there were other threads about it but i couldnt find the thread.

so stop being condescending and either
1)post a link to this thread
2)answer my question on this thread
3)dont post anything at all

thanks a ton guys. thats all i wanted, just someone to point me in the right direction. sorry i snapped at that other guy, but i see no need for a comment like that. it not hard to be helpful

listen guy. You need to check the end of his post. See the smiley? If you can't take a little razzing then maybe you shouldn't start your own threads. He wasn't rude and it was obvious by the :) that he was joking. So lighten up k? :D

there are some REALLY helpful people on this forum. I go out of my way to try and help everyone i can. ts common courtesy. but just pointing out the fact that there were other posts on the subject-something i was already aware of but couldnt find-and not offering any help beyond that.....thats NOT helpful and it bothers me. like i said to him. help or dont but theres no need for negative comments, smiley or not.

OK - before this gets out of control...

I was being playful. Yes, there are a lot of really big threads on this topic in this forum, and I really don't think there's anything new on the subject, but mainly I was being playful.

I guess I felt like I've been around this forum enough to goof around a little, but the comment wasn't necessary, so I apologize.

I hope you got the information you needed. FWIW I use System Panel rather than a traditional task killer and very rarely kill anything.

It's all good.

System Panel (actually, it's Systempanel) is, in addition to being as close to a task killer as vampires can get without turning to ash, a really nice app.

It's a lot like Task Manager for Windows, in that it shows graphical representations of system activity. It's more for those of us who want to keep an eye on things than those who want to kill tasks.
