Speaking of Great Divide - one of my favorite bars did a tap takeover of Great Divide and boy was it delicious.

BTW bottled my first batch of beer on Monday and started brewing a "Winter Dark Ale" - should be delicious. I think I am going to give the Winter Dark Ale 3 weeks in the fermenter this time as opposed to the two weeks of my first batch. Some pics below.

My absolute favorite (but do not drink too often due to cost) :

Name: Delirium Tremens
Style: Belgian Golden Ale (8.5% ABV)
Cost: $12 / 750ml Bottle (retail)
Random Fact (from wikipedia, but still true :) ) : Delirium tremens is Latin for "trembling madness", commonly nicknamed "the DTs", indicating a violent sickness induced by withdrawal after alcohol abuse. Although it is commonly thought that sufferers hallucinate pink elephants, which may explain its use on the beer's label, the most common animals seen in delirium tremens hallucinations are cats, dogs, and snakes.

Favorite "Normal Beer"
Name: Stella Artois
Style: Belgian Lager (5.2% ABV)
Cost: $12-$18 12 Pack

Name: PBR
Style: ??? Water?
Cost: Expensive now in SoCal, up to $10 a beer at concert/sporting venues
Why? It is now the defacto d-bag, trendy beer to drink (not that everyone who drinks it is this way, but currently that is the case in Southern California and probably other areas as well) Still can't wrap my head around it (for a cheap 12er, fine, but not as a "concert" beer!)

I vaguely remember a beer called Eku that got into double-digits of alcohol content. It was as strong as most wines, which is remarkable because it tasted like spoiled berries. Maybe I got a bad 6-pack, but at the price I paid, I didn't try another!

Bells Hopslam 10 percent
$17.99
One the best double I.P.A's

The first year was excellent, but each subsequent year has been increasingly disappointing to me.

That first year, I bought two cases for around $120 without flinching. Kept them in the basement for months, drinking one every couple days.

The second year, I only bought one case because I didn't think they used enough hops.

The third year, there was too much sugar/honey flavor and the hops tasted empty, hollow, or cheap.

After that, I couldn't bring myself to buy much if any. I think the high price and low availability of quality hops killed this beer.

Agree with ya, TAR. :(
Our rep for Bell's always brings us an "allocated" case of HopSlam, but I really don't want it at this point. First, I don't want to sell a beer for that much. Second, I know your sentiments. It's just too boozy and sweet.
For my hoppy Spring seasonal, I always go with Troegs Nugget Nector. Not as high ABV and far more balanced.
Okay, now I need to find some. :)
