Using this...

TouchNav v1.3 update (fat/fat32)

First attempt using it to create a backup.

Could not mount sd-ext. sd-ext backup may not be supported on this device. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Generating md5 sum...
Backup complete!

Suggestions? [The reason I'm asking for suggestions is because I am quite sure this is user error. Any assistance provided to point me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.]

i'm not sure what has caused your issue. is your sd-ext partition formatted fat or fat32? if not, then that is your issue. you need to make sure that you use the version that matches your sd-ext partition format--whether fat or fat32 (vfat version) or ext3 or ext 4 (ext version).

if you are using the correct version then i don't know...

sd-ext backup is supported. as a matter of fact, none of that code changed at all so this would be an error that is cwmr related and not confined to just my build.

i really have no idea what to tell you.

see if your sd-ext will mount in the mounts and format menu

I'd really like to see the wipe battery stats added to the menu. I know I cn simply delete the bin file myself but.. I've always liked being able to do it from recovery. Besides that, awesome recovery.

thanks, and i'm glad you like it.

but i probably won't add that feature back. my personal preference is that less is more.

i wanted all the most important tools to be accessible from the main menu--which wiping battery stats can still be done that way too if i just coded it in--but i also wanted to remove all the things that i felt were virtually useless, and that was one of them, and so was assert and signature verification toggling.

I follow the KISS philosophy when I am developing as well. However, Wiping battery stats is a common task that everyone "should" do when they are done flashing new roms. It keeps the battery calibrated.

Perhaps making it a hidden function would suite your taste more. IE: Auto-deleting the batterstats.bin file when you wipe data / cache, or better yet have it wipe the batterystats.bin file when a "restore" nandroid task is complete. That way it's not in the menu, but it still wipes the battery stats. Just a simple suggestion.

alright, since I went in and manually formatted /boot, /system, /data, /cache, etc I now have a lovely brick. This phone is a POS...any ideas on a fix. I've currently tried staybooger's rom+kernel+recovery zip and it just hangs on splash. WTF did I do to this thing?

not to be a dick, but,

that's exactly what you get when you format stuff for no reason,

and

when you format stuff without then installing something else in its place.

i'll pm you a link to a nandroid and you can restore it using recovery. that is if you can still boot into recovery. if you can't get recovery to load, then most likely you're screwed.

Yeah this phone has been a thorn in my side. I'm trying to unf*#$ a friends phone. I'm not a noob to android, just this phone. I used to develop for the rezound on xda before I got my gnex, but this phone is a pita! Every other phone I've fixed took a good wiping like a champ. Thanks for any help. I can boot to recovery, just nothing past the splash...I'll be looking for the pm :). I figure if all else fails I'll just buy her a nexus s on ebay and all will be well. (besides my wallet)

no, the phone is fine

improper use has cause your problems. you don't format anything unless you are going to install something afterwards. this is just plain common sense.

can you boot into recovery or not?

Yeah I can get into recovery on it

restore either of these nandroids using the recovery.

merit.stock.rooted.rar

or

merit.rooted.deodexed.rar

unrar them and put in a folder structure like so on your sdcard

/sdcard
-folder named "clockworkmod"
--folder named "backup"
---folder named "merit.stock.rooted" or "merit.rooted.deodexed"
----7 backup files

restore using the "recovery options" in this recovery

if this doesn't work then you've done more than formatted your partitions
