visual voicemail on prepaid

I tried it when I first got my S2 and it didn't work; not available or something. It started working a few weeks ago and doesn't seem to use minutes. Nice!

I update the app and now I can get Visual Voice Mail save in the .wav or whatever format.

Kudoz to T-mobile for being not so cheap with prepaid customer. BUT will this last long? I wonder if its a mistake.

One thing I notice, the app does not have the voicemail number counter like you see on your email. My Sprint voicemail got the number counter.

Now there is no way to block unwanted TXT messages. Either you can have it on or off. No select blocking. Booo!

Yep, I have always had it disabled, since I use Google Voice for voicemail. But sometimes when a call comes in that I don't want to take, I have to silence it and wait for the ringing to finish on its own (since that's the only way Google Voice will pick up). I had T-mobile disable my voicemail because I can deal with that, but it would be nice to have Visual Voicemail so I can access that over data so that in case I accidentally slid the ringer to the red phone, it would go to a system that doesn't have a voicemail box for me.

That's part of why I use it. I also use it because it allows me to have a number independent of carriers. Everyone has my Google Voice number, not my T-mobile number. Calls are forwarded to my T-mobile number, or received through an app that uses Gmail chat to receive Google Voice calls. This both allows me to receive and make calls using data connection when I want, as well as allows me to switch carriers at will, without worrying about any number porting. There is also a Google Voice plugin for Chrome, which I can use to text when I'm at my desk and don't want to pick up my phone.

I didnt know this. Sort of like having a yahoo email where you dont want to use your ISP email so when you move, it doesnt matter.

There is no reason. Maybe some people does not like ad on their screen.

Maybe some people dont think ahead until the brick fall on their head.

Some people just dont know.

I do the same thing. I give out my GV number, not my Tmobile number. Plus, I have a boost number (backup) and a cheap (backup) tracfone number. That way, I can just give my GV number.

As long as you have a data plan, Visual Voicemail should also work on prepaid and the app will play the voicemail through the phone.

I received a couple of junk/spam/illegal-under-the-law voicemails on another phone recently, which were displayed by Visual Voicemail (the phone number it was sent from and the number of seconds), however, if the item is deleted from the Visual Voicemail app, it does not delete the actual voicemail message from the main voicemail system and you would have to dial into voicemail to hear/delete it.

I would have thought that T-mobile would want you to call their system so it can waste your valuable minutes. At least on their prepaid plan.

By doing this, it doesnt cost you any more minutes.

I find within less than 5 sec, I would get my visual voicemail prompt after a caller have leave a msg. Much quicker than my Sprint visual voice mail.

I go to my real voice mail to check and indeed, the visual and the real mail box does pair up 1:1. Are you sure about this?

I have not actually listened to one using Visual Voicemail, but once it's deleted from the app and you call into the regular voicemail system, it tells you that you have 'one saved message'.

Since certain people know my number, in checking Visual Voicemail, I will know if the message is from someone I know or is junk/spam/illegal-under-the-law. But even though deleting it from the app flags it as a saved message on the main voicemail system, I don't know if saved messages are automatically deleted after a certain number of days, as new messages are.

I'm not sure how often the app syncs with the server but if it's launched manually, it will sync right then and there and display the time that it last synched, but it does pair up 1:1 from what I've seen/deleted.
