Droid vs TP2

Hey guys, I recently got a Droid and haven't quite got used to it (or passed my 30 day return limit) and a friend of mine who claims to be a phone-wizz (and has been so far) and says that his Touch Pro 2 is much better than Droid. He says the only reason people like Droid is for its opperating system, and that the TP2 can download android, and once that happens, the Droid has no chance. Should I consider trading in for the TP2? I happen to like both phones, so comfort isn't a factor. I know I want the best, especially if I got to live with it for two years. Help please?

Well you want general phone advice, I'm the RIGHT person to talk to.

Well Spec for spec they are pretty close, except the droid has a better screen. The TP2 Keyboard is better however. The Quad band feature on the TP2 is nice, not to mention the speakerphone is second to none. It's a close fight...

However, the droid DOES run Android natively, and that means ALOT, believe it or not.

It's really a tough call here...

The google search on the Droid is second to none, especially voice search.

So its a bit of a wash, but I would say the TP2 does have a slight edge over the Droid.

First, the Droid actually has a far better processor than the TP2. The TP2 uses the same processor the original touch pro did, and its the biggest drawback for that phone by far (same one that's in the Hero/Magic/Dream)

Second, while Android support is getting better on the TP2, they still don't have support for stuff like the camera and GPS.

The major plus of the TP2 is its kickass keyboard. It has by far the best HW keyboard I've ever used, so if that's a big priority for you go for it

Umm the tp2 and droid processors are basically a wash.... the chip in the tp2 is slightly better quality. So the whopping 20/30 mhz difference isn't much to say "far better than" if anything id lan towards the tp2 having the slight edge.

The TP2 has the same Qualcomm processor used in the original TP, the Droid has the same OMAP processor seen in the Pre and 3GS which is in between the TP2 and Snapdragon. There's a reason why the Droid is faster than the Hero (which has the same processor as a TP2). You can't only go by clock speed

Go read up on that qualcomm processor and get back to me.
