I guess I can't take the hint

Been trying for the past two weeks looking for a galaxy s3 around 350-375 on eBay and Craigslist and all. Got a couple bites but the last four all seem to sell out at the end. Didn't want to sell the phone or seller canceled the bid with a minute left. Wonder if this means I'm not suppose to git this phone. Hmmm

I had similar experiences dealing w/Craigslist deals. When following my due diligence by ensuring a legit transaction, the seller would back out @ the last minute.

Of course,YMMV,but,I'm sure many here have experienced similar issues w/Craigslist,& my general recommendation would be to steer clear of Craigslist & search elsewhere for an off-contract used S3,such as here @ A/F CLASSIFIED section,COWBOOM,or perhaps AMAZON.

General Ebay advice, select a few on your watch list that look to be in good shape with a listed clean ESN.

Decide what the max you will pay for it before hand, and don't bid until the last 15 seconds or so and put down your max. Ebay will bid for you up until your selected max, but if nobody bids it up you'll win it for significantly lower.

I've been buying/selling a few phones lately, and the best way to do it is to bet your pre-determined max at the last instant.

The hard part isnt winning, its finding the good ones

Also check out the bid history of the items. If you notice its going back and forth between a few people and the price isnt jumping much between them, then you know they're going the classic auction route where you just slowly keep bidding higher until the rest drop out.

Unfortunately with ebay that strategy doesnt work, as you'll run out of time long before you'll get the others to max out that way.

When you see that happening, you know thats a prime one to jump in at the last minute, as those people will only bump the last bid up by a few dollars, and if you jump in at your max its won

Even went in eBay and joined some swap shop groups lol I want one really bad. But don't know if I should wait for the S4 if and when it comes out.

If you can wait, do it, but it wont be out soon (...3-5 months) It wont be MWC next month

This may be of help in confirming a clean phone, whether it has an ESN(CDMA phones),or an IMEI(newer phones,GSM & CDMA).

http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/546726-how-do-i-confirm-clean-esn-gsm-phone.html#post4362683

This one (& any GSM PHONE) will have an IMEI/MEID.

Also, virtually all purchases on e-Bay are protected against fraud,etc....

Either way, just posting some options for the OP,& a BTW,not sponsoring or endorsing any transactions here on A/F, except for those that I'm directly involved in via the A/F classifieds forum.

Try Swappa (Android) Buy and sell gently used Android devices

For the Verizon model they have several in your price range and I believe that they check the ESN prior to the phone being listed for sale. Also, the sales prices includes shipping.

I sold my Galaxy Nexus there and it went smoothly. I purchased my S3 from Craigslist for $285 so you might want to consider that route as well.

+1

I recently bought a 16GB S3 on Swappa, with a stand case, and iBolt vehicle mount for $370. Keep looking there, as the AT&T models currently available are much more expensive.
