Help help! cracked glass

I dropped my phone from about 2 feet to carpet, had case, and didnt think much of drop until this am, when i noticed a very thin line right in the middle of screen, i see glass replacement ads in ebay and amazon now for a do it yourself solution, has anyone gone this route?.....have seen some videos on youtube, etc, still not 100 % convinced i want to do it myself....also, if anyone has taken phone to be professionally fixed, how much will it run?.....thanks!

don't you have insurance with your carrier???

Wouldn't carrier insurance (assurance?) have a deductible as high as some of those Samsung repair centers? Now, if you bought your phone from Best Buy with their insurance - you can drop your phone any day of the week with no deductible lol!!!

To OP, what case did you have on and which side did it hit the ground? So far, every post post (you can search on this forum for cracked glass) was due to people having phone out of the case. Would be a scary thought that it could hit a carpet from 2ft in a case and still crack :(

Read your contract. ;)
Best Buy charges $9.95 a month for two years for that insurance you have to add. That comes out to $232.80. Not exactly a great deal. You don't get a new phone either. If they can't repair it, you get a refurbished one which may have blemishes on it as well. Not for me!

Oh, I didn't say I have BB insurance. I got my phone from VZW and went to BB but they refused to offer their protection plan since phone was purchased outside. But still, everyone mentioned in here assurance has $200 deductible per each accident. With BB, you pay one time fee of that much, and you get a phone replacement, doesn't matter if its not new. More than half of refurbished phones are just returns from people who either bricked them or installed some bad app which is draining their battery or screwing up their GPS lol!

SquareTrade is shaddy as well because I heard once you exercise your first accident deductible ($100), you have to renew contract or something like that?
