Root [Verizon] [App] Google Wallet Installer

On a semi-related note, installed perfectly, on setting up wallet it asks for NFC to be turned on, which I never have turned on. And apparently on CM10.1 once cannot turn it on, it's grayed out. So I'm stuck.. lol

Does CleanRom have working NFC on/off switch? My wife is gonna kill me if I spend another half day staring at my phone setting stuff up. :)

Yes it does :) and then tell your wife it's all to benefit her :p

That's an issue I ran into as well. Mike is correct, CleanRom's NFC works perfectly. It's actually what I flashed to to get NFC working on my device. Mine was also greyed out and wouldn't turn on the first time I flashed CM10.

Darn! I wish I'd come across a mention of that before all my settling-in lol

Ah well, back to recovery I go!

:)

Okay, good luck! NFC may not stay enabled after flashing back to CM from CleanRom the first time you try it. It took me a few goes, but it eventually stuck. Also, on the Jan 25th CM10.1 nightly, NFC worked right out of the box for me.

So eventually if I flash a TW rom like CleanRom, enable NFC, and flash back to an AOSP like CM it should stick as enabled? Does one have to do a full clean flash of CM or will a nandroid restore do it? I have CleanRom installed now and it's a very nice ROM, I just don't like TouchWiz much.

It's not a perfect art. I did a clean wipe each time, and it took several tries to get it to stay enabled. I've heard of people restoring a backup, and it worked, but I've never tried it. I would just recommend flashing to the latest CM10.1 nightly. They seem pretty stable. I've been using one from a few days ago as a daily driver and it's working well.

Well, I think I'm sick of flashing for one weekend. I'll just live with CleanRom and use Nova on it like I was before I rooted.

Beyond that, setup and config on Wallet went perfectly, it didn't take long to configure or add card either, though I already had one on file with google. I'll try and use it next time I see a scanner somewhere. Very cool and :p at Verizon!

Well, I flashed the latest CM 10.1 nightly (1-28-13)
Installed the wallet installer. Installed the latest Busybox 1.20.2.
Ran the installer and chose the AOSP and Verizon options, my build.prop is correct. Tried to set up wallet and keep getting the "Device Not Ready" message. Rebooted, tried again and same message.

Wifi off/wifi on/cleared data and cache from wallet, tried again....same message.

My bootloader IS unlocked, the rom IS de-odexed, I HAVE the latest Busybox.

NFC is on by default.

hmmmm, frustrating to say the least. It worked on CleanRom and yes, I did reset wallet before the new rom flash.

My build.prop IS set to Galaxy Nexus, product name--yakju, product device--maguro.

I have tried several times to set up wallet...no joy.:(

When I did it last night, play store was quick to update Wallet before I could re-run Wallet Installer and get the build.prop rebuilt. I think this is the problem BUT I didn't bother to turn off data & re-do the whole process. I'm hoping that the updated UI will make its way into Wallet Updater soon.

THAT'S a bummer Mike! Sure hope you're able to get this one figgered out. Seems Wallet app is a real potetial issue when flashing new ROMs...

Think I'll stick with my CleanRom for now since it's all good at the moment. I did flash a new kernel...Lean kernel v1.8 and seems the device definitely runs a tad bit faster...

Keep us abreast how you're doing with CM10 and the Wallet app. Goodest luck :D

Thanks, but I saw the update but did not install the update from the PlayStore...I have my settings so I don't get auto updates.

I'm on a mission now to get this thing working!

You could try out Jelly Beans which also uses the lean kernel and is about to release an update with the new lean kernel.

Just go into your wallet, go to settings and reset wallet.
It will hang at about 96% or so, but then reboot. And then do your flash.
I thought you were on CleanRom 5.6 already?

No not yet...

So I do that prior to the actual flash? Is that same as backing it up then? Hmmmm...I may do this tonight or tomorrow, not sure yet...:)

EDIT: Does this cause me to lose all my receipts from purchases made? Will I ever see them again?!

yes, do that before the flash and no it's not like backing it up. It is resetting it to like it was before you set it up.

And you can still view your receipts on your google account.:)

I got so sick of trying to install wallet on CM, I fresh flashed CleanRom 5.6
I'm still having the issue:(

Thanks Mike and man, I'm sorry you're still having issues! Seems the more I read about CleanRom, it's possibly the best liked ROM out there!

So, just to clarify, you say the Wallet reset will hang at about 96% - so do I simply reboot at that time, while it is all hung up? Thanks for yo fine wisdom and 'experteese'! :p

Yup, so says Prl himself!
I'm completely baffled why I cannot install wallet now...arrrrggghhh!!
"Device Not Ready"--is the stupid message...
Ah, well, I'll figure it out one of these day my friend!!

okay, saw this originally in xda and figured hey we just got a new vending machine with NFC and I wanna install wallet to try.

I stupidly decided I didn't wanna wait to make a backup first and it soft-bricked my phone at work. I'm currently downloading android sdk on my work comp (hoping it doesn't find out) and making a backup through cwm6 on the bricked phone.

Does anyone know what this app does? Would i just have to edit my backup with a good build.prop to get my phone to boot or do I have to replace the NFC libraries also? Can I just dirty flash the same rom and get my phone working back to the same state it was?

Verizon GS3 (sch-i535) running stock root 66 rom, unlocked bootloader, cwm6, and latest busybox.

EDIT: if you end up softbricking and can't connect your phone to your comp, I was able to unbrick by advance restoring my system directory in CWM from a year old nandroid to get a working build.prop and it booted right up.
