Help Samsung Galaxy note 2 crashed and won't turn on...

Ok so as said above my galaxy note 2 after owning it about a week crashed when I was loading a game.

The screen basically faded to black in alternate lines down the screen. I tried to turn it on with no luck so I took the battery out and tried to turn it on again and this time it turned on.

I had just received a new memory card for the phone so i put it in and tried turning the phone back on and no it wont turn on at all.

when i hold down the on/off button i get a red led light flash but nothing else

the battery is definitely full, I have also tried plugging it in a turning it on, taking the battery out for a few hours ( and the sd card ) I then gave up and left it for 2 days as i read on another forum that this helped but again no joy.

has this happened to anyone else?

I am going to take my phone into 3 (where i bought it) to see what they have to say but if anyone knows of anything that could help would be much appreciated

Welcome charliewells!
I am sorry to hear about your phone.:( What game were your loading? Or were you downloading it.? Was it from the playstore?
I have not heard of that issue, but then again, I am not familiar with your device.
You may want to check out the Note 2 threads and see if someone else has had that issue.

Hi All,

I bought a Galaxy Note II 3 weeks back. Yesterday, it just turned off while it was in idle mode. The red LED on to the right of 'Samsung' label flashes everytime I press the power button but doesn't turn on. I tried removing the battery, however, again nothing happening.

Please let me know if you guys had any solution or did you guys just sent it to Samsung for exchange/repair.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Best,
Shameer

Sounds like you guys got a defective phone. I would go back to where you purchased it and get a replacement. I purchased mine at best buy and if I were to have that issue I would not even waste time trying to figure it out. From your descriptions that's rhe calling card of an electronic device dying. My screen did the same when one of my old phones was dropped in a cup of soda.

I bought the note 2 less than a month ago. I dropped it on my floor the first day i got it and cracked the top part of the screen just a little it looks like a scratch. About a month laster which is now 2 days ago it just stopped working. In the middle of using it it just shut off. It sometimes will flash a light sometimes not. I try to turn it on and it wont. The battery was at 80 percent. So i try and charge it still nothing happens. Then it turns on a few hours later by itself and shuts right off again. Sometimes when i turn it on it does and sometimes absolutly nothing happens. But when i do get it on its only for about a minute tops. I took it to the store who said it had nothing to do with the crack it was power surging and to calk 611. I did that and they sent me to a store aout a half hour away where they can do warrenty exchanges. They could not get my phone to turn on and said there was nothing they could do cuz they cant even have it on long enough to try and reset it. They said they thought it was from an app i downloaded. They told me my phone was under warrenty but because my screen was cracked i would have to pay full price. I domhave insurance on my phone so i will have to pay a 200 deductible and 611 said they are so backordered they cant make any promises tosmwhen they will even get thiers. I called around to get my screen fixed tomsend it in for warrenty and the lowest price was 500. So i finally got my phone on long enough to factory reset it and it still wont turn on. I randomly hear it power up but then it shuts off after a few minutes. So basically i am stuck using my old phone unless i want to pay full price and buy a brand new note 2 because they sold me a defective phone. Every store i went to told me it had nothing to domwith it being dropped but unfortinatly its policy to notnaccept phones with a crack. So frustrating

Same with mine. Its about 2 weeks old now.
Plugged it in after using it during the day, looked at it at 4am in the morning and it was DEAD.... just a blink from the red LED

It was perfect during the day

Nothing I did would make it work again. I did not try a new battery.

Its back to Samsung as of yesterday

The note 2 was to replace my Blackberry which I hated. Whilst waiting for the Note 2 to be released I got a Galaxy ACE and that was rubbish too.

I'm hating mobile phones just now !!!! as I charge up the ACE again

Same exact thing happens to me about once every other week since I got the phone. I'm having many minor inconveniences with jelly on my stock note 2. Sometimes the bluetooth button doesnt work until I reboot the phone, other times it works but s voice will not recognize my voice. Every once and a while it just comes back with a "network error." I took my phone in for a replacement because my microphone would not work sometimes. It never cut out in the middle of a call, it just didn't work for some calls. Ive had my new one for about a month now and it still has all the problems except for the microphone issue sofar (knock on wood.) I'd expect most of these problems to be resolved after a couple updates. Jelly on samsung was rushed to get a pre xmas release to compete with the new windows platform. It doesn't even have multi window fully implemented yet.

Hi all, my galaxy note 2 got the same problem too,
Yesterday when I hold the phone, my palm feels a bit warm in the back and screen is totally black without any signs of life. First I was thinking the battery is empty.
I try to turn on, nothing happens...
I try to pull off the battery and re-plug, nothing happens..
I plug the charger for 6 hours, retry to turn on and pull the battery, still no luck...

My GNotes 2 is rooted and installed normal apps such as avast security, Nova Launcher and games.
I think this is caused by apps crashed because lately I often got crashed error report.

My phone still cover with warranty, but how do I rollback to the unrooted phone and reset the counter with this dead condition? or is there any solution yet? any suggestion will be much appreciated, thanks in advance...

I'm having the same problem and i was just getting the flashing red light after pressing the power button but now i'm not even getting the flashing red light.

My phone is rooted and i want to be able to unroot it if the phone is faulty and return it for a replacement but i'm not sure where i stand on getting a replacement if they find out its rooted so i'm desperate to un-root it if possible.

Just want to add that i'm from the united kingdom and have only had my galaxy note 2 for 2 months, if someone can help with this i would really appreciate it.

Also wondering if getting a new battery works.. I havent actually tried to get a new battery but it crossed my mind as a possible solution. My phone can start if its restarted via recovery mode (not by the traditional means of pushing the power button) but hangs on the OS lock screen due to 0% battery. I took out the sim/sd card to shorten usage on startup (before I was getting msgs on lock screen then it would freeze), now it just kind of freezes anyway. No red LED indicating charging at any point.

I've tried everything: charged overnight, changed usb cord, alternated with ac power charging and usb charging, pulling out battery for 5mins, touching contacts on battery really fast, formatting all data via recovery mode.

In some ways, getting a new battery might validate that its a defective phone because batteries, as a potential scapegoat for samsung, are not covered under warranty. No water damage, etc at all, never dropped, really the story was I was using the phone occasionally while it was still on the charger and I started noticing every time Id go to it, the battery would be life would be lower (despite being on the charger). By the time I took it off the battery and went out, I tried to use the phone but the screen was black as night.

My phone is still doing it and it's really annoying. My friends are all telling me that I should have gotten an iphone and im starting to agree with them. At least all their phones are reliable.

Try a factory reset first. Yes, you will lose all your data/contacts unless you backed them up to your google/gmail account first.
If you need to save texts and more, MyBackupPro comes to mind. :)

Well, the iPhone is not perfect either.
Anyway, I see back in Jan. you got your phone replaced.
Since you're still having many of the same problems on 2 different phones that just leads me to believe it's an app wreaking havoc.

Did you by any chance backup your last phone and restore that backup to the new phone?
