For the past two months (I'm unsure when exactly it started) my phone has been having difficulties when updating apps from the Google Play store. When an app updates it slows down and then reboots upon completion. After the reboot, then the rest of the apps will automatically update with no reboot. Initially I thought that lookout was the issue, but I have since uninstalled it and it is still occuring. I have tried clearing my cache with no success. I have seen other people report on this but no clear answer has been put forth.

I have not tried a factory reset as that is a last resort for me. However, if I do have to reset, what is the best way to save all my information?

Here is the info on my phone:

Droid Razr Maxx
System version: 6.16.211.xt912.verizon.en.us
Android version: 4.0.4
Basband version: CDMA_N_05.11.01PLTEDC_U_09.11.11
Webto version: wt-3.0.0
Kernal version: 3.0.8-g29cf5e7hudsoncm@il93lnxdroid54 #1 SMPpreempt thu June 14 15:22:48 CDT 2012
Build number: 6.7.2-180_DHD-16_M4-31

I was actually going to post this exact same issue. Updating an app just makes using the phone useless. You have to wait, and wait, and wait, then BAM! Reset! WTF!?!? I, too, thought it was Lookout and have frozen it with TBU. Same crap happens. It doesn't do that on my wife's phone (Samsung), so it has to be the Razr. So annoying. I avoid doing updates until I know I won't need the phone for a few minutes.

I started to think about any other apps I have that scan new apps, but freezing any possible culprits doesn't help. LBE Privacy Guard came to mind, but it seems to only scan new apps, not updates.

No one has any ideas (aside from JB - which I am dying to get)???

Hope you don't mind, but this is bothering me and I posted the same question in the Moto forums hoping someone there can help. If I get a reply, I will post it here too.
