As the title specifies, I'm finally just doing it. I am so fed up with Sprint right now that I am quite close to telling them to shove their contract. I have been with sprint for years and have been a loyal customer, yet when I need service I get jack. Just a little rant
ANYWHO, I called HTC yesterday, told them I would like to send my device into them for repair. The dust has progressively gotten worse to the point it effects the phones visibility in direct sunlight (that was for all you who would like to quarrel about my pickyness) Anywho, I was sent an address and a claim number. The post office I don't believe is open tomorrow, so I will be boxing up my Hero and sending it off to HTC first thing Monday morning. They claim I should have the phone back in about 2.5 weeks. Sadly I am responsible for shipping + insurance which I feel is needed..
I will update on the status of this, as I tried to get some answers regarding others who have sent theirs in with no avail. HTC told me that they will basically replace everything on the phone. They take it apart, replace the front plastic around the edges, or whatever material that is, replace the seals, and replace the screen (not the actual LCD obviously) and that this should prevent the problem from coming back. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Wish me luck! haha
If this doesn't solve the problem, I'm calling em right back up suggesting a refund. This is way too much work for a cell phone. I haven't held a specific Hero in my hand for more than 2 weeks.
