thought i would start a thread, as i kinda hogged another thread about this hehe.

I have just finished designing my first full app that shows LIVE Train Departure times/routes & est arrival times.
Currently works for Train companies:
Southern
SouthEastern
SouthWest
Virgin
London Midlands
Arriva
And will add others companies..

Cool My first app is live: feel free to give it a go, hoping to get some feedback/bugs.

This is only the first version, and only just finished, so sure it will have some bugs. lol.

the app does have the feature to click on a train time, and it gives you the journey, but that does not always work. as even the train companies website's have problems with that. as when time moves on they change the train ref number.. looking at a way round that over the next week.
works better with some companies than others, and Virgin don't have that facility at all.

My latest version is now available on Android Market. search "Train Times UK"

Please help me out and download the app! and give it a 5 star rating,
as idiots are downloading it on older devices and saying it does not work, when i clearly stated in the description its Android 2.1!!!

No longer true. as it is designed on Android 1.5 now. so should work on all devices 1.5 and above!

Running on an HTC Desire (ROM 1.15.405.4) on T-Mobile only looking at National Express East Anglia stations.

I constantly either get "journey not available" or a blank screen when I click on any journey.

I presume like the (better IMO: cleaner interface and not ad-supported) UK National Rail Train Departures app that it should display the entire journey's stops/times instead of this message?

Help us to help you...by making it Android 2.1 only you are limiting the app to less than a third of all andoid users. :(

Unless there's a must-have feature that is only supported in Android 2.1 then I would suggest making sure it's compatible with versions 1.5 onwards. That way more than 95% of Android users will be able to use it.

lol sorry, I should update that post, it is Android 1.5.
This is my first ever Android App, and when i started, I just designed it for my device. (the desire) It was downgraded near straight away to 1.5 so it should work on most devices!

Thanks

great app, good job putting this together if possible is there any chance you could have a search by station option. at the moment the main screen is pretty crazy, and its useful to me because i know what line i use, however it would be a great app if you have a search by station option, and even better if you could search by destination.

none the less a great app.

Very good effort indeed. Very nice. I like the station departures board style display.

I really like where this is going. :)

Some suggestions:

How about station to station without having to nominate a train company?
A wild-card based search to find stations rather than lot's of scrolling would be nice.
Arrivals board - good if you are waiting for someone to arrive to pick up or possibly get an ETA.
Search on destination as well as departure point would be nice.

I guess it's possible you have some of these already coming down the track ;)

Very good indeed. :)

This is getting better and better. Great progress in such a short time! I do like that the departures go a good distance into the future - the other app I mentioned previously has on average about 1 hour less available...

Having it show more is great in case I miss a train and want to plan ahead further...

Any chance of enlarging the font size for when viewing the departure boards and journey timeline themselves (or adding it as a user option - like the colour schemes)?

I appreciate that it's better to have smaller fonts for the listings of stations/trains but once you've drilled down it would be nice for everything to be a little larger...

Hi Rodhill,

Thanks for your feedback,

I will be working on a full options menu in the next week, released by Monday, where you can set:
-Font Colours
-Background Colours
-Font Size
-Startup Screen (Journey Planner or TrainTimes)
-Delete All Favourites

I am trying to do less releases from now on, because the more changes I make, the more times people have to download updates, and the more bugs I could introduce. So Now most the basic features are there, I will be running a slower release program, to get changes/fixes out more fully.

Thanks
Darren.
Thanks
Darren.
