You're more of a 1-year or unsubsidized price kinda guy, huh?

Haha sorta yeah. I really don't like buying them unsubsidized but sometimes the urge for the phones kinda gets the best of me..

I bought my G1 unsubsidized for $425 because my RAZR2 broke. So I figured hey, might as well get something I like (that's when my android love started). Then I convinced my parents to switch to Verizon since our contract was up, so I got the Droid for Xmas. And now I want the Incredible, so I'm going to buy it when it comes out. I work, so I can afford these (just the G1 and Incredible I had to buy).. I really don't spend my money on anything else being a college kid, so phones and girlfriend are where the funds go! :D

wow. at first i thought "man this is a dumbass survey", but then I voted and was VERY surprised at the results! I can't believe that many people will be starting on an Inc. People still have "dumbphones"?

there's two reasons behind it. Smartphones are more consumer friendly now than before and seen as something everyone can use. You can thank apple for that. Before they were seen as business orientated.

2nd Verizon's data plan requirement for essentially dumb phones. 10 dollars month gets a dumbphone with some nice features. Those people just figure they might as well move up to a smartphone which has more features and the extra 30 bucks a month is much more valuable.

the 2nd reason is where I fall in and sorta #1. Had a smartphone before but they were clunky and were not very friendly. So I switched back to nice feature yet dumb phone. With verizon forcing the data plan charge I either stick with my dare which I've grown tired of now and save 10 dollars. or shell out the extra 30 and get a smartphone that much better and lets me do more stuff on the go.

Right now, Incredible will be my first smart phone. Of course, I have until September before I'm eligible for another contract renewal and cheaper phone. I've used older flip phones since I've had a cell phone with my primary tasks being talking and texting. But, with the increased travel required by my job, I'm beginning to see the power of such a device and probably won't turn back once I start.

Yep, upgrading from LG Dare. I've always been hesitant to splurge on the $30 data fee, but it's finally time to make the leap.
Haha, I know what you mean. I'm using a Samsung Alias right now and the data plan didn't make jumping onto the Android wagon any easier. However, I got 4 friends to jump onto my plan so it's easier now.

No, nobody has dumbphones. 2 year contracts don't exist and they stopped selling dumbphones around

Idiot. You can't think of any reason why people have never had one?

How about

1. Verizon's smartphone lineup up until the Droid and Droid Eris was laughably bad
2. People bought an acceptable dumbphone 2 years ago due to #1

And I don't consider Blackberries to be smartphones. Souped up dumbphones, yeah.

E: My answer is "yes," but I've had an iPod Touch since 2007 so I kind of have had one, except split into a phone and an iPod.
