I have to enter a pattern to unlock my phone before using it. Last night, while I was sleeping, my girlfriend's daughter got her hands on my phone and entered an incorrect pattern enough times to cause my phone to lock up and not allow me to use it now. It is asking me for my email and password but when I enter the correct information, my phone repetitively informs me that I am entering an "invalid username or password". What do I do now?
Hmm, that is really strange. I've been locked out a few times and it's always worked for me. Are you sure you're trying the same account you have linked to the phone? Also, it's always a good idea to type the password slowly to make sure you're not accidentally hitting the wrong key. I'd check the username & password on a computer, and you can check on
https://play.google.com/store/account to see if that account is the one linked to the phone.
I did a little bit of searching for people who have had this problem, albeit with a different phone, and these are some recommendations that they said worked:
Remove the battery for a few minutes, replace, and try then. I personally don't see this making much of a difference, but hey, worth a shot before trying to get it unlocked through resetting the phone.
One person suggested typing the username/email in all lower-case letters even if you normally make some letters upper-case. Going with this I would also try some different case combinations that you may have used, maybe even all upper-case.
Someone oddly a few years ago said putting "null" for the password made it work.
Others also suggested changing your password on a computer and then attempting to unlock.
I'd also suggest maybe trying with/without the @gmail.com and see if that makes a difference.
Hopefully one of these helps!
