Help Galaxy S taking 24 hours to charge!

Hi

I've had this samsung galaxy s for a couple of years now. Over time the battery had gotten a little worse and was beginning to take longer to charge and was t lasting as long. This was ok, I kinda expected this after a year or so using it. But now it is taking sometimes over a day to charge the phone and she off charge will last maybe 1 hour with heavy use and 4-5 on standby. So far I've tried a new battery, this does the same. And I've done a hard reset after backing up to a sd card, no better.

Does anyone have any suggestions what this could be? Any suggestions appreciated.

My first suspicion with regard to the poor charge times on the new battery, is that the device and battery need to get into sync/calibration. There are several good methods to do that (assuming your charging apparatus; the cable and charger itself, and the charge port on the device, are all intact and not damaged).

The best way is to merely run the new battery as low as you can with enough functionality to shut the device down. Then charge fully, and repeating that cycle until normal battery use seems to come along.

Others will advocate "bump charging," depending on the device it usually means like this:

• Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more,
• Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour,
• Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour Your battery life should almost double.

It's not s2, it is s

Have you tried using a different charger? If even a new battery doesn't fix it the charger may be the problem. If that doesn't work and calibration (as Frisco describes above) does nothing, your phone may be faulty. It is three years old after all.
