Well, somebody had to start one, so I did :D

So does the "Epic" refer to the thread? Or the phone? You be the judge ;)

Anyway, post rumors, speculations and anything else you can find about this epic phone! Try to stay (mostly) on topic, and BE CIVILIZED.

I'll do my best to keep track of the rumored / confirmed specs and consolidate everything here in the OP. Stay tuned for the latest.

    And here we go!

    Let's start with this:

    http://phandroid.com/2013/08/01/official-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-moto-x/

    And this:

    HTC One vs Moto X:

    And this:

    http://www.droid-life.com/2013/08/05/why-you-should-consider-the-moto-x-opinion/

    and this:

    Specs so far:

    • 4.7" 720p RGBC AMOLED screen (with very thin bezel)
    • 2200 mAh non-removable battery (but with awesome battery life)
    • Dual-core processor (including low-power for always-listening mode)
    • Nano-SIM
    • Clear Pixel 10MP camera sensor
    • Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
    • Complete hands-free operation due to voice recognition
    • Active notifications

BUT: 2000+ CUSTOM DESIGN OPTIONS! Wood backs in Q4 2013!
    http://phandroid.com/2013/07/03/moto-x-customizations-revealed/

This phone is NOT going to compete in the spec wars. Ever. What it WILL do, however, is compete in functionality: doing what you need it to do, and doing it very well.

Can a 720p screen actually look BETTER than a 1080p screen?

    Release date:

    August 23rd (on AT&T)
August 29th (on other carriers - Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon)

    Rumored pricing:

    Approximately $700 off-contract, $200 with 2-year contract

    Ok, I'll bite :D

Actually the latest rumours seem quite conservative: quad core higher resolution spec bump of recent Moto flagships. Not as radical as some of the early claims.

Having said that, even if true we're only seeing the coarse-grained info so far - the details of design, features and software make the difference between "one of the pack" and "outstanding". And I'd be more than happy with something that gave me up to date cpu power, expandable storage, solid battery life, a full range of radio interfaces, an easily unlockable bootloader, top build quality while not being larger than 2012 phones.

(Yeah, a couple of those aren't from the leak, but one is already a feature of recent Motos and the other is very high on my wishlist ;)).

This is THE phone that would keep me with Verizon! :)
My "upgrade" is up around Mayish which is probably the soonest it would launch (but who knows). Can't imagine VZW would allow sale through the Play Store, but who knows. Crazier things have happened, like the um, Galaxy Nexus. ;)
Here's a link to all the tagged X articles on Droid-Life for those who want to get up to date on the rumors:

BTW, Chief, you may be getting a little ahead of yourself by proclaiming it the "Epic" thread. ;)
But, let's hope it gets there. :)

I think this thread could be of use to share what information has been leaked.

I am suspecting that Google will have a little tighter control on the information than what we saw in the past.

I think that when this thing has a real name you will see the specifics on its attributes. Quad core seems to be one for sure.

Hey Dread, the sheer fact that we're HERE makes it epic already :D

And yes Pup, it's a pre-release thread for a nameless phone, with unknown specs, that may or may not be coming out at all.

But I LOVE a good challenge!

I'm taking this one with a whole lot of salt:

    http://bostinno.com/2013/02/04/google-motorola-x-phone/#ss__292316_288596_0__ss

Great article until it mentioned "bendable screen"... it lost me there :p

But THIS article got my adrenaline up:

    http://androidcommunity.com/motorola-x-phone-rumors-talk-camera-battery-and-launch-date-20130202/

And talk about jumping the gun - this article already has a release date and pricing set for a phone that's still vaporware!

    And finally THIS:

    http://www.phonearena.com/news/More-claims-about-Googles-Motorola-X-phone-huge-battery-Sony-camera-sensor-and-Kevlar_id39368

    Only 3-1/2 months until Google I/O! :D

As an aside, if the X does launch with KLP/5.0, what do you folks want to see in it most?
Honestly, I'm very happy with the huge overhaul ICS and now JB have brought. Duarte is doing a fantastic job.
The lock screen widgets are not my favorite and honestly I don't even use them. Miss the slide to camera, but I suppose sliding the screen there is fine (and yeah, I can implement the former in the ROM I'm on).
I'd really like to see a LOT more done with Google Now. It has so much potential that doesn't seem to be there yet.
