Hi everyone i am new to this forum and my nexus 4. I previously had for years a battered old HTC wildfire (sim free) I liked that it was dead easy to automatically set the HTC to stop checking for email at night within the stock email client. this seems absent in the nexus 4 unless I manually set it to stop each night I get woken up with junk mail notifications I want it to ring if called as this would only be an emergency call

unlock, root, flash AOKP, enable 'Do Not Disturb Hours'.

Thanks but I I may a bit more help. Are you saying I need to unlock and root ?,, I was hoping it was in settings somewhere

As blahblahyoutoo said I think you can only do this rooted. I haven't seen an app so far that does what you want. Remember your using a pure version of JB unlike HTC phones that add their own apps/add ons.

Thanks I guess your right about pure jb it just seems such an obvious setting I can't believe its not present. I have checked out a few apps but no luck partly because of combined volume on calls and notifications on the N4 Still glad to see WiFi hot spot is on here and works a treat as I used this loads on the HTC too.

Yup, I don't get it either.
You can try some 3rd party apps like Tasker or Llama for a less elegant solution if you don't want to root.

I might have a solution (if I understand the problem.) Download Light Flow Lite (free - though I think this one is worth buying). Set your email notification sound there. (Disable the sound in your mail app.) In the main Light Flow settings enable sleep settings and set the times you don't want notifications.

I believe these sleep settings only impact notifications you're having Light Flow manage.

Strange but I've noticed my led never works even though the option is ticked in settings. I've checked out the various apps above thanks for the advice all a bit heavy for my needs also jb has issues with system volume. All I actually want to do is mute email sound notifications at night leaving every thing else the same or prevent send and receive of emails at night. Easy on HTC all set on a clock within stock email app. I'll just set to "never" check each night so as not to woken up by junk mail coming in Lol. May look at email apps such as k9 see if option to automatically stop checking at certain times is present. Thanks all
