Hi All, I use the T-Mobile G1 as my business phone. My contacts database is critical. In the past, I've had phones that synced to either a desktop client or .mac (I run a mac). Now, since contacts sync to google/gmail, I am at their mercy. The problem is that Gmail has been badly corrupting my contacts database weekly for the last 2 weeks. What's happening is that a subset of my contacts are being duplicated. Last week, about 30 of my contacts were duplicated 272 times each. Then after fixing them (deleting duplicates), they duplicated 30 times each. Now, after fixing them again, they duplicated 40 times each. This results in a bogged down, clogged up and unusable contacts database. Is this a known problem? If so, is there a solution??

If there is not a solution, I will have to ditch Android and go back to a Blackberry or something else. Please help. Thank you very much!

Hi,

Are you using Snow Leopard?
I do and have setup just one account in "Address Book" (the default one) called "On My Mac". Have these as the clean start (and deleted all the contact I had in Google) and then activate the option "Synchronize with Google".
That's all and neither Google or the Mac have messed the contact and they are both synchronised.

Before deleting the ones you have currently in Google you can export them (as a backup).

Thanks. I am trying what you suggested. I am now waiting for Address Book and Google to sync after deleting all gmail contacts and cleaning up Address Book. Is there a way to manually initiate this sync? I am running Snow Leopard.
