2013 Verizon Phone Rumors

I'm curious if anyone has any articles or information in general to share about what high end smartphones (android only) might be coming to verizon this year (mainly Q1 and Q2 but share all info on any time).

I know the HTC m7 might come to verizon, but the DNA and m7 are about the same as far as hardware, unless the information coming out about the hardware specs for the m7 is not accurate.

I would like it if the xperia z was coming to verizon

Also the optimus G pro

I'm no corporate fanboy, (though I like the look of sony and LG phones the most) so I would like to hear about any rumors from all makers. I'm due for an upgrade tomorrow but I want to hold out and see whats going to hit the market over the next few months and get feedback from others on what they would do.

One last thing...has anyone heard when the new qualcomm chip series (400, 600, and 800) might make their way into phones? Or the next gen of chip tech in general. Maybe I should wait until next fall to upgrade :p

Thanks for any feedback.

well I guess no one has any news lol

So I'll share what I've found out

looks like the HTC m7 is coming this spring sometime

Probably followed by the SGS4 sometime late spring early summer

Then perhaps we will see the X phone by motorola and google this summer.

I wish the LG optimus g pro was coming to verizon because that would be my choice.

Has anyone heard anything else about a RAZR M HD? Seems there was a bunch of commotion about it towards the end of December but I haven't been able to find anything recent about it.

I don't see anything current on it, just some articles from the end of december.

I actually read in one article (about the motorola and google X phone) that we most likely aren't going to see anything new from that line of phones because they were all designs and development projects that were already underway before google took over motorolas mobile department. And now google is focusing in another direction and we are going to see a completely new line and series of smartphones from motorola. Of course only time will tell if this is true.

I haven't been a fan of Motorola since the whole bootloader thing; now that Google owns Moto, though, maybe the X will be a worthy successor to my Galaxy Nexus this fall.

But then Verizon will probably throw FITS (again) and force Moto to lock Verizon bootloaders while all other providers are unlocked

After the Galaxy Nexus launch fiasco in 2011, I am not optimistic that another Nexus will see the light of day on Big Red. It could happen... and ANY phone I buy has to be unlockable, rootable and ROMmable. I'm just too much of a crack-flasher to happily stay stock for too long, especially given the propensity of Big Red to delay updates and upgrades.

Maybe Verizon will redeem themselves this year. I truly hope so. If not? I'll bet this Nexus could run Key Lime Pie all day long if she had to, and we'll just wait :)

I agree.

Supposedly the x phone is going to have stock android with some bloat added. I'm sure it will end up with a decent Dev community given all the hype about it.

It sucks that the best phone appears to be the DNA and then the M7. I refuse to buy another HTC phone. I guess I'll look at jumping to Sprint (provided they have a decent (new) phone).

I've never owned an htc. I'm thinking about the dna right now but it doesn't really have any great roms for it, and I hate the stock theming. Hopefully they will get cm10 working for it soon.

If I were smart and more patient I would wait a few months and get something then but I don't know what I'm going to do yet.

Just a rumor.. Hopefully not true. I'm returning my DNA and will wait for the M7...or something smaller.

Yup, hopefully not true. Had my mind made up to grab it on launch day. If it doesn't come to VZW, or is significantly delayed (another rumor), I'll have a decision to make......wait....or DNA.

The M7 is exactly what I want, so I hope it launches.

Damn. I suppose 0.3" isn't that significant anyways

You'd be surprised. My problem with the size is both the height and the width. The height is a problem because i can BARELY reach the notification bar with my thumb when the phone is in one hand. This makes it a two hander phone.

The width is an issue because the most used button on my phone is the back button and they moved it (from my Rezound) from the bottom right to the bottom left, making it a stretch to reach. With a case, it's impossible, making it two handed to operate.

Im bringing it back, it's just too big. Having it in my pocket makes me feel like i'm smuggling an iPad everywhere i go.

I just hope they keep the bezel on the M7 small enough so it's not the same width, but will get it even if it is, because the shorter stature will be worth it. It'll also have some extra bells and whistles i'm sure to like over the DNA, like Sense 5.

I was trying to make myself feel better if the M7 doesn't come to VZW ;) :D

If the M7 ends up coming to VZW (which I think is a big IF), by the time it does it won't be nearly so cutting edge. It drives me crazy that VZW isists on their own version of everything.

They'll get it a day late and a dollar short, and it won't sell. And then VZW will say, "See, that's why we didn't want it in the first place".

i have a Verizon galaxy nexus n i m from india...i m not able to detect any network on it..please suggest me wht should i do...my handset is galaxy nexus 4g LTE

Plbron, something tells me that it's not going to work. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that India is on all GSM networks... while the Verizon Nexus is a CDMA device. Unless there is a CDMA network on Verizon's radio frequencies, you will never get signal.

Your best hope is to use wifi for data. You might be able to make VOIP calls with the right app... but using wifi is about all you will be able to do. Sorry for the bad news :(
