Root [ROM] Quattrimus JB (CM10.1, AOKP42)

What benefits come with having official supported CM? And what does it take to get it, just curious.

Official support brings nightly releases, more dev support, and guaranteed continued support for probably at least one more version of android. It would take a lot of the load off of tdm having to merge all the changes by himself.

I don't know about the continued support statement, but the rest is true.

What's lame is the cm crew only supports night lies after someone like tdm does all the legwork to get the rom jiving with the device: they did just that with xplodwild and the transformer 300. That credit ends there and they do t carry it forward...basically, someone else gets it to work and then they don't give credit to the dev that did so. I've never liked that aspect. It's been my experience that they don't push out of new versions of cm for supported devices, but they allow device devs to make it work... And then they support it.

Now that is just wrong.
Maybe tdm could watermark the ROM somewhere CM would not detect it, at least he and this community would know it though. :)

I totally agree it's wrong. They did it with the d2 devs too... There were only credits as long as the devs offered the rom... All cm builds on the cm server gave no credit to the hard work those devs did. At least put a note on the main cm page by the device, giving props to the guys that made it happen, ya know?

I see where you are coming from but really the people who actually own the phone all know who made it happen.

I elect tdm as dev of the year! I wish you had verizon tdm because I would stalk you phone to phone so I would be assured to have amazing dev support :p

This is pretty much how most major open source development works. There are armies of folks contributing stuff and only the top layer or two are really recognized. For example, did you know that I have contributed a few patches that are in the mainline Linux kernel? No, of course you don't (hint: google for a4d258036ed9b2a1811c3670c6099203a0f284a0). But you all know the name Linus Torvalds and the devs will recognize a handful of others like David Miller, Russell King, Alan Cox, etc.

Yeah it's unfortunate, maybe even wrong, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of motivation to change it. And I'm okay with that, because contributing to the greater good trumps my ego.

You're too modest tdm. It's not about ego, I believe we give credit where it's due. I do it at work and it's a requirement of the open source agreement, but it's a shame there's no reciprocity. If I were a rom like cm, I'd reciprocate and give love to the devs like you that make my product better and available to a broader audience.

good stuff, MrB206. I think we should take note of your thanks to thanked ratio.

Yeah I contributed some code a long time ago (dial-up modem days) to the Linux Kernel, doubt if it is still even used today, Linux is a community effort as you said there are thousands of contributors, but only one Linus Torvalds.

Many thanks for all your work tdm.

I clean flashed 2x. once at work. I have really bad reception there so when I did I noticed the buttons didn't light up and gps didn't work so I flashed back to aokp r4. gps and buttons both work so I tried again, sane issue. Everything else seems great. looking forward to the new aokp! thanks again for everything tdm

p.s. hope your sons doing great.

Lol. What is this, 1980? Hold up, I need to get my Walkman to jam out to my sweet tunes. ;)

I have a 2013 atlas :] they never fail whereas gps can fail sometimes. I think we've all had gps mock us before :p

I always been a hardcore atlas user and after getting a smartphone I started using gps and then one day gps took me 30 minutes out of my way so I bought an atlas out of anger :D [though my laziness has not allowed me to use my atlas. I still enjoy studying them]

My dad is a hardcore atlas guy... he's gone down a lot of 1 way streets the wrong way lol.

As far as I know, nobody has got it to work on CM10.1, even those of us who had it on CM10. Still a better ROM in my opinion, even without the GPS!

i agree.. cm 10.1 runs better than any other rom ive tried so far... cm10 stopped working right with my spec after build 6.... but i can live without gps for this buttery goodness...

im in love with the notification bar, lockscreen and daydream

keep up the good work TDM!!

btw i downloaded on screen button enabler from the play store.. its a purple circle with the 3 dot menu button inside... on screen keys work beauitifully... and im glad the cap keys dont light up and annoy me
