Help Extremely annoying!

Hi guys.

for once its not a firmware annoyance, but coming from a HTC magic this feature/bug pisses me off!

When your phone is in standby/keylock/side button mode..
Try to hold your power off button off while locked, its not locked!!

Its only this key, and the most annoying thing is that this happens _EVERY_ time i have my phone in my pocket!

It does happen that my sound gets muted, or my phone gets shut down.

Absolutely incredible that i am the first one that mensions this.. So it might be only my phone?

No, you're right mine does that too. Never had a problem with it though. Maybe it'll get fixed when the fabled 2.1 upgrade actually arrives?

I have to hold it down for a considerable amount of time before it occurs spec maybe this was intended?

I suppose this way you don't need to unlock if you want to switch it off or mute/unmute the phone

also if I close the menu back down it remains locked,Whig appreciate. I don't expect it to be removed

It is pretty annoying, but I found that I fairly quickly got used to it. You get into the habit of not going near the power button when you're putting it into/taking it out of your pocket

I actually like this feauture, because the lock key at my phone has the annoying habit that it does not work from time to time.

I think I understand your issue - check out the case mentioned here - http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-lite/61707-accessorize.html - as it adds an extra lip around the bottom edges - so less likely you will keep constant pressure on any button causing it to stay depressed and power off.

Same bug with 2.1 JCF firmware, thought they would have remedied this

I really suspect that this isn't a bug, but a feature

I believe that it's a feature as well. I use it all the time, I find it so much easier to turn my phone on silent.

On 2.1 you can use the slider on the lock screen to turn it on silent.

If it truly was a feature I could choose to disable it
