Anyone in UK got 2.1 OTA yet?

I have a question, cant you just plug it into your computer and let the motorola software uptade it to 2.1 for you guys?

I have a french one, atryed OTA and it didnt work, so I just plugged it in and it got updated throught the motorola Software provided on the disc.

Or am i missing something? ><

You are missing the fact that the update is not there yet for the UK and Canada. Neither OTA nor through Motorola Software Update.

I have received fw: 2.1-update1.
At first sight, the only noticable change is that I have 5 home sreens now as default. It can be set upto 9 screens.

New apps: Camcorder, All Videos, Facebook, Moto Car Home, Voice Dialer, (Help Centre, and Quickoffice icons I do not remember having before).

Thumbscrolling on webpages and menus improved a lot with the upgrade, it does not "overscroll" anymore. If you know what I mean.. I'm very happy about this, it greatly improves the overall usability of the phone!

Media Galery and Camera app is updated

Motorola Europe For UK Milestone owners and those on Vodafone Germany, we apologise for the delay in the upcoming 2.1 upgrade. Issues occurred in testing on the networks and this has held up the process. We are now in final testing for the UK and assuming no further issues arise, this will be released next week. For Vodafone in Germany, we are looking to release later this week. As soon as dates are confirmed, we will let you know. ~ Facebook

Personally I'd rather wait for the update.
If they've pulled it at the last minute it will be due to a critical flaw.
There are enough posts on here and the Motorola forums reporting issues to stop me pulling down an image and installing it myself. I'm more than happy to wait and get an official update which "may" fix some of these issues.

Look at it this way. The people in France, Germany, Italy etc who already have the updates may be stuck with a buggy update for a long time to come.

That's an optimistic way of looking at it, but I'll wager that we have exactly the same bugs that are already known about with 2.1, and were probably present in the Nexus One build. Which makes a huge wait even more frustrating.

Trust me, I work developing tools for DSP's and phone chips. These companies would only pull the patch if it was a) Causing a lot of trouble and b) Can patch it relatively quickly. If they couldn't fix it in the short term, why stop the patch - unless it's a showstopper and nobody has spotted one of those yet (bricking the phone etc).

Not sure what your point is there wintee. I said they won't pull the patch and what we get will have the exact same bugs as the other existing 2.1 Milestone firmware builds (music player starts when headphones are removed, 2D graphics performance much worse than 2.01, etc.)

You appear to be saying the exact same thing.
