I get pm's all the time from those that speak spanish askng various questions. they also ask why there is no section for those that do speak spanish. with android being a worldwide product and spanish being the most widely spoken language in the world, would we benefit from a section in the forum for those that can only communicate using spanish? just a thought :p

Sorry to nitpick, but english is the most widely spoken language in thw world, by far. In fact, in order to become an international airplane pilot in ANY, ccountry, you must be able to speak/read/write english.

iowa does this look like an air traffic control tower? once the results of the census are revealed Latins will be the majority in these united states.

there is no doubt that english is the number one language in the world. mostly due to buisness forcing this upon the world.

but spanish is number 2! without a doubt.

call your cable company, directv, electric provider, etc etc and see if spanish is not offered if you press number 2

Thats right, spanish is number 2

Most of the latin people here are illegals, therefore wouldn't be on a census.

most of the latin people here are not illegal. actually its more like 5-10 percent. But that is irrelevant because the are many different nationalities that are not here legally no only spanish.

anyway it doesnt matter. this site serves the world wide web! not the US only.

You know what, your completely right. I was in a bit of a mood, sorry. But how would something like that work if 90% of people here speak english.... I can only see catastrophe...

I know what you mean by being in a mood, I've had days like that myself.

its my understanding that if there is to be a spanish version of this site it would be separate, not combined within it. so in other words there wouldn't be a thread with both english and spanish posts thus confusing everybody not familiar with the other persons language. It would most likely be a separate spanish language based AF. Geared towards those more fluent in spanish around the world that feel more comfortable reading, writing in Spanish. How that will be accomplished, who knows, Unless big Daddy Google can instantaneously translate English to Spanish the whole site i don't see how it can done without creating it from the bottom up without spanish speaking staff, admins and technical people on hand to get it right.

As for the number of latin/spanish speaking people, it depends on what area you are referring too. Although the forum is created and based in the USA, the USA is by nature of its name is in America which includes both south and north and it's my understanding taking it as whole, then yeah we have more spanish people in America than any other language. But that's another topic for the Political section not here. :D

just imagine the users that some to the site and do not see an option to ask or express themselves in the second most common language round the world and here stateside. potential users are being tossed away. I wasnt requesting a full spanish translation of the site just a subforum say in the general android area with the title " Preguntas y Informacion in espanol" where those that speak spanish can ask eachother questions and get answers among themselves

im sure they translate the site using a service, free service, if they want the info. i wouldn't be doing lots of work here to make the site spanish friendly, i just dont see it as something that is needed.

there is a mod on vb.org that can add buttons to the index to convert the site to up to 20 different languages on a per user basis, but many attest that this is very bad for SEO as it is still technically duplicate content and you will be punished by Google for it.
