Goodbye Desire..

..hello Nexus 4.

After months of wondering which phone to buy, i decided to go for the Nexus 4.

I thought it was time to upgrade as my desire was getting sluggish etc. I would like to thank everyone who helped me with questions i had about rooting the htc desire etc.

I was looking at the Nexus 4 myself earlier today. As a fan of bloat free ROMs its the obvious choice. I'm not on a contract so will wait until I have to buy a new phone but its good to know what's what beforehand.

After more than three years together I replaced my Desire with a Galaxy Nexus. Having a bigger device is useful, but the Desire's size is great for one handed use. I really miss the optical track pad, such a great feature, but I don't miss battling with the low internal storage and having to be really selective about what apps I wanted on it.

The Desire is still a great phone, even though stock is stuck on 2.3.3, and I probably would have kept it for longer if HTC had given it more internal storage for apps. I always thought this was an oversight, considering the rest of the phone's specs and knowing Google had a Market that was trying to emulate the iOS App Store.

I liked the trackball feature. Low internal space started to bug me after a while so thats why i rooted and used app2sd.

The Desire was a great phone that I really loved, but I have to say, it's not a patch on the Nexus 4. Not regretting the move at all.

I thought I would miss the track 'ball' and Sense but as it turns out, not a bit.

Having said that I was looking at HTC one X plus the other day & before I knew it I had ordered one!

Really have that "last man standing" feeling now . Though I have reached the point where I'm watching the new announcements closely (HTC One will need checking out when it arrives).

The HTC One looks amazing but its reported to be mega expensive.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to you Hadron for all the help you've given me & other desire users. My desire would have been unusable a long time ago if I hadn't read your posts. The same goes to Suroot & Rastaman of course but they've already left the building.

Not sure what to do with my desire now. The main reason for retiring it is my battery has about had it. It's had an incredible amount of use & is just worn out. The phone still works well but why buy a battery when you can get a new phone for free.

The natural time for me to change would be this summer (birthday), so by then the One will hopefully be out of "early adopter pricing", the 64GB version should (again hopefully) be available, and I'll know whether the Motorola X is even better

Anything I've done here was just following the fine example that SU and Rasta were showing when I joined. And you've been doing a pretty good job of paying help forwards yourself

Enjoy the One X+ - I always liked the design of the One X, and with a speed bump, extra storage and battery and a slight WiFi redesign the X+ seems an excellent beast.
