No synching with picasa.

You have to upload them to Picasa first. But if the pics are already there then they should show up. If not then go over to accounts and sync in settings and hit the Google tab. That should bring up all the things you can sync with Picasa being one. Make sure it's checked and hit Sync Now at the bottom. That should take care of it.

It should be automatic if your picasa account is the same google account you use on your phone for gmail, contact syncing, etc. When I updated to 2.1 the first time I opened the gallery it began populating the gallery with my pictures from picasa.

so, i'm having a problem synching my photo gallery with picasa. whenever i go into accounts & sync in the settings i only see options for contacts, gmai, and calendar. is there something i'm missing? i'm currently running stock 2.1.

it is NOT automatic. you have to upload your photos to picasa web albums. they give you 1g of free space. on the upper right of every album you have an option to sync to web. if you're signed into your google account, it will upload that album to your web albums. you can also upload single pictures. ALSO you can organize the pictures on the web at picasaweb.google.com

it's very easy, but you do have to upload to the web. this might take a while, depending on how many pics you want to upload.

Right, but if you had already uploaded folders to your web albums it IS automatic. Semantics.

Actually I think I misunderstood the question at hand. I don't think there is a way to sync pictures you take on your phone with Picasa, you would have to manually do that for each picture taken I believe.

I thought you were asking about syncing pictures from your picasaweb site to the gallery on your phone, which occurs automatically with 2.1. My bad.

It does? Since I updated to 2.1 it hasn't. I don't see a Picasa option anywhere in the sync settings for that account and there doesn't seem to be an 'options' area in the Gallery itself that can enable this.

U are all forgetting a hard reset is sometimes required for android to detect picassa

Are you asking where to enable/disable the syncing of your existing Picasa albums with your Droid?

Go into settings, accounts & sync, then click on your Google account. One of the options listed will be "Sync Picasa Web Albums". I think it's enabled by default.

If you're asking about something else then just ignore me. ;-)

I don't know... I've had pictures on my picasa site for several months, and immediately after doing the 2.1 update I wanted to check out the new gallery, I opened it up and watched it populate my gallery with all my picasa web albums.

So for me it occurred spontaneously, I have not checked for any way to enable/disable this feature... do you have sync enabled on your phone already?

There are 3 settings under sync,-contacts, gmail, and calendar.I have no option for picasa web albums. Am I missing something?

Under my "Accounts & Sync" settings when I click on the Google symbol I do have a box that is checked that says "Sync Picasa Web Albums" in addition to Contacts, Gmail, and Calendar.

When you go to "About My Phone" under Firmware version does it say "2.1-update1"

When you use Picasa (the software), do you have folders "synced to web" that uploaded to your web albums?

If the answer to these 2 questions is yes, then I have no idea why your Picasa Web Albums do not appear in your Gallery. You use the same Google account for Picasa that you do for Gmail, Calendar, etc. right?

One at a time---Under accounts and sync I have contacts, gmail, and calender, but no "Sync Picasa Web Albums" My firmware version is "2.1-update1"- Not sure what you mean by-'When you use Picasa (the software), do you have folders "synced to web" that uploaded to your web albums?" The way I view my pictures right now is to open my browser and go to picasaweb.google.com. I can view all my pictures there, I just can't get them into "gallery" Finally, yes, I use the same google account for everything.

Hard reboot..as in restore ur 2.1 install to factory. Wipe it ur account info off the phone and go through set up again. That's what I had to do in order to pick up the picassa account. I tried for weeks under my gmail account other ways(uploading, downloading, creating a picassa folder) and doing that was the only way mine eventually picked up. There were some settings under my google account but I can't remember what I fooled with. Oh, and try to post a pic to buzz....that gets sent to picassa too and will pop up in your gallery.

Sync is enabled-When I got 2.1 nothing from my picasa came over to the gallery. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling gallery but couldn't do that either. Yes, I tried a hard reboot. Sounds like a trip to the Verizon store is in the future.

"so, i'm having a problem synching my photo gallery with picasa. whenever i go into accounts & sync in the settings i only see options for contacts, gmai, and calendar. is there something i'm missing? i'm currently running stock 2.1." The question persists- Supposedly picasa syncs with "gallery' and sends all pics in picasa to your phone. It's not doing it and the only answer I got as to how to fix it involved a clean boot. Don't want to do that and lose everything (apps,widgets,contacts,etc.). Any ideas?

I just spent 20+ minutes researching your problem and it does seem like your best option is to do a factory reset.

Any apps that you've purchased are tied to your Google/Gmail account, so upon restoring your phone and logging into your Gmail account should restore most of your apps, as well as your contacts, calendar entries... essentially anything that is tied to your Google account will automatically be restored.

If you want to be able to instantly revert your phone back to the exact state it was in before your factory reset, this can be done very easily with the aid of an app from the Market called MyBackup Pro. If you go into the Apps section of the Android Market, press "All Applications" it should be second from the List of "Top Paid" apps. It's been a while since I bought it but I'm certain that it's $5.00 or less.

Before performing the factory reset, purchase this app and use it to perform a backup. This way you can back-up not just your contacts, etc. but also your text messages, phone call log, home screens set-up, dictionary etc. I recommend performing two seperate backups, backup your DATA online, and your applications to your SD CARD. It will give you the options for DATA/APPS, and for each one you can choose Online (to their server) or to your SD Card. The backup of your applications is technically not necessary since most of your free apps (and 100% of your paid apps) will be restored automatically after doing the factory reset, but just to be safe you might as well backup your apps to your SD card. Just remember that after restoring them back to your phone you can go ahead and delete that file off your SD card.

First you backup your DATA online, check everything except Contacts and Calendar. There is no need to back up your contacts or calendar since these are synced with google, then perform the backup. They will give you login info to retrieve this backup, go ahead and email yourself a copy.

Then backup your apps to your SD CARD.

Now perform the factory reset. Enter your login info, wait for your apps to repopulate, open MyBackup Pro, and restore your settings from online and your SD card and your phone should be exactly like it was before you performed the reset in less than 10 minutes.

Your widgets might not show up properly, but otherwise your home screen settings will be restored. Just reconfigure your widgets and your phone is fully back to normal.

Found this thread because I was havingg the same problem as op. My husband hs the same exact phone, LG Ally, & his Picassa was populating to phone gallery, mine was not. The difference, his Picassaaccount was established before setting up his android. Mine was created after. Did the hard resetg as suggested and it loaded up right away!
