Finally porting my number from VZW to TMo on my N4 today.

I can't live without visual voicemail. What visual voicemail app are you using?

There's a T-Mobile VV app but I like Google Voice.

Are you a Tmobile pre-paid subscriber? Google Voice says that Tmobile pre-paid plans are not supported.

I'm on Solavei (T-Mobile MVNO, prepaid.) Unlike the prepaid plans directly from T-Mobile, Solavei supports conditional call forwarding. This means I can use Google Voice for consolidated voicemail for both my sim number and GV number.

You can do that with GV with any plan or carrier.

Prepaid T-Mobile cannot do conditional call forwarding. That's why the other poster reported Google Voice says it isn't compatible with T-Mobile prepaid. I know of no one on the prepaid T-Mobile plan who can have their sim number go to GV voicemail. Most people try to work around this by disabling the T-Mobile voicemail and giving no one their sim number. The sim number then has no voicemail but the GV number does through GV voicemail. The biggest drawback to this is GV doesn't support MMS. So by not using your sim number you lose that function.

The main issue with that is GV doesn't support MMS. (So that's not a problem if you never text pictures.)

I did port my existing number to GV. As soon as I told people I could text, multiple people started texting pictures. So I gave them my sim number. I also have friends who have limited minutes, but mobile to mobile is free for them. Once you use GV for your call it no longer counts as mobile. So those people also have my sim number. I never intended to give the sim number to so many people. Since I get called on both numbers I'm very happy GV voicemail can manage both. That's been my experience. YMMV.
