Root Newbie question about root. Phone stuck on android screen.Please help.

I searched through the forums but had alot of trouble. I can root a g1 with ease but I sort of got into trouble with the behold lol.

This might sound stupid but do I need to root the phone before I install the port galaxy 1.6?

i just did this...

1. download odin here Odin Multi Downloader v4.03.exe
2. download any Of BH_MAN ODIN Ready Rom's
3. download winrar ( google it) to extract the BH_MAN zip file.
4. follow these instruction

5. Turn off Phone.

9. Enjoy the Port.


And my phone was stuck on the android logo. do I need to root first and where can I find this? Is this where I go...

Can I do this method even though my phone is stuck on the android screen?

How can I get back to default at least?

No, you don't need to root when you odin Bh_man's roms. Just put the phone in download mode again, and odin one more time.

I thought this. Just seemed to easy to be true. I keep getting a popup before everything saying something about an image. Is that normal? Also sometimes when im flashing, odin just goes on forever. But now that the questions answer I will keep trying to flash it. Thanks.

Ok. Well Ive been flashing for hours, every rom possible and on ever custom rom it loads the android screen and then just the screen just goes off like the phone off but its still being detected by the program so it most be on.

With the stock it won't let me flash. The odin just goes on forever.

Any ideas?

I would re-download the both the drivers and the roms again and install them on a different pc. Its possible that your drivers didn't install properly or the firmware you downloaded was corrupt. Try the recovery to original firmware and start over.

This is exactly what I am seeing (finish the flash and then it goes through the Android boot screen and turns off). The only way to get it reset is to pull the battery and start over.

What I have done to try to resolve this, all with the same results:

Wiped ext
Reflash back to stock (boots up as would be expected) and then flash any(and all!)BH_Man Roms
Reflash with BH_Man Rom's while in the shutdown mode with ODIN
Restart the phone (have done 6x in a row - still shuts down after Android boot screen)
Redownload the drivers and ODIN and try the above again

I am not TO worried about getting my phone working again as I can get the stock working no problem. One thing that is puzzling is that back in January I put on the original Galaxy Rom with no issues, now it is not allowing me to do it. Weird..? I have done numerous root and flash jobs on MyTouch, G1 and Nexus but the BHII is trumping me.

Any help would be appreciated, I would love to get back onto 1.6

Btw- My phone was stuck on the android screen because my sd card was corrupted.

Try using a different usb port during odin. I had a similar problem and a different usb port solved the problem instantly.

Thanks for the idea Kevin, but no luck. I also put in another SD to no avail
