HI,

Sorry if this is a lame question, but I do not currently own a smartphone - waiting for Incredible...do I understand correctly, that on Verizon, I will not be able to fool around with my phone (on internet) and still get new incomming calls??

I guess I had no idea....kind of a downer - been w/ verizon for 14 years...really looking forward to smartphone

Thanks for any explanations...

You will be able to recieve calls. You just won't be able to use the internet while on a call.

No matter what you are doing on your phone (internet, navigation, etc) your phone will still ring and receive calls. If you are on a call however, you can not use any data while your call is in progress. You can still minimize your phone call and do other things on your phone (check calendar, play games, etc) as long as they do not require data.

I have Sprint so I can't say 100% for Verizon, but I can receive calls while browsing the web. It doesn't matter if I'm on 3g or WiFi, the browser pauses and the call pops up. After I'm done with the call, the browser picks up where it left off.

Odd. I can be on wifi and make calls at the same time with my Eris. Obviously can't do this with 3G, but it works fine over wifi.
