Hey all!

This is my first post here and I look forward to being a member of the community.

I used Cellswaper.com to get someone to take over my family plan with my iPhone so I could escape the Apple grip with no ETF. I know it's a month early but I gotta set my self up for the Hero!!

We'll probably be going to Best Buy tomorrow so my wife can get her phone now and I can pre-order my HTC Hero! :-D

Anyone have any thoughts to the Best Buy pre-order? Do you guys think the HTC Hero will sell out? Did Best Buy already stop doing the pre-order?

I'm all gitty and nervous. I can't wait to get this thing in my hands but it's a big deal jumping ship from AT&T without the phone in my hands.

Chalk up another leaving the iPhone camp and entering the Android world!

I just put down a deposit on one today. I was only the second person at this BestBuy store to do so and the mobile phone salesman said they had only just started taking pre-orders this week.

I doubt it will sell out, but i'd rather be safe than sorry and have one sitting with my name on it. They give you a receipt and a BestBuy gift card with the $50 on it to use when you come back to pick up and pay for the phone.

I'm really excited about the Hero. I almost walked away...for dare i say it, AT&T and a fruit-phone. That was until i read about the Hero. Thank you Dan Hesse for finally hearing the Sprint masses! Finally a few solid contenders in their device line-up (instead of another slew of crappy flip phones and look-alike sliders).

And if all the Android/HTC folks on this forum are right this Hero will easily live up to all the hype.:D

i was in best buy today and gave my $50 deposit. my question to the guy was, what about the sprint rebate which brings the phone from lets say 500 dollars to $179.99 (actual selling price)...he said if you buy from sprint store u HAVE to do the rebates, but best buy gives it to you for the AFTER price out the door. this applies for new customers and current customers doing a 2 yr contract extension.

this surprised me and i almost couldnt belive him. can anyone support the validity of this?

THANKS.

Ps-going from a curve which i love to the hero. cant wait....lots of great youtube videos

I have to say that I've had my Hero for a little over two weeks now, and my wife is getting more and more hacked off with me...I cant put the bloody thing down:

If I'm not checking my texts, I'm checking my emails...if I'm not checking emails I'm seeing whats new in the Market. if I'm not checking the Market out then I'm switching on my lightsaber app and swishing it around like a proper little jedi (yes, a jedi I will become, strong the force is with this phone /endyodavoice).

So in essence I guess I'm saying that you wont be disappointed with the phone. Make sure you get the latest rom update, or the else the minor lag will drive you nuts.

From those of you that already have the phone... you've more than reassured me I'll love my new phone!

I officially completed the transfer of my AT&T service (with crappy iPhone) to another individual so I'm in the free in clear. I was so happy hearing the AT&T rep say "You no longer have any financial responsibility to the account. Thank you for being with AT&T."

So, as soon as I heard that, me and the wife hauled a$$ to the local Best Buy so she could pick out a new Sprint phone and so I could pre order it. I felt lucky, as soon as I asked the guy "I'd like to pre order the HTC Hero", he said "No problem! Let me find the papers." From that point on, I was psyched!

I've got my pretty little piece of paper with the HTC Hero as big as can big with my name on it. Only 17 more days till I get my Hero!

Since the AT&T transaction started, I've watched every review and unboxing I could find on it. I haven't been this excited about a phone since (dare I say it) the original iPhone. I look forward to joining the ranks of all you that already have it and will have it.

Doesn't the Sprint version come with the new firmware already installed?

I can't wait to get rid of my iPhone. I'll save a shitload of money switching to Sprint:). My gf has Sprint and haven't had any serious issues yet here in So Cal, EVDO is blazing fast. At&t network is getting pretty ridiculous, it seems like 3g gets slower and slower everyday and calls are dropping like never before.

Dont forget if your phone has not got a chin its not the real Hero.:D:D:D

To be quite honest.... I'm glad it doesn't have the chin anymore. I thought the G1 looked okay with it but with this being such a major revision in technology and they (both HTC and Google) are in a really good position to over throw the Apple kingdom, I think it was warranted.

I tend not to buy into the "iPhone killer" hype (there has yet to be a suitable opponent), but if Sprint/HTC/Google play their cards right, this could could be the device that does it.

Apple is going to have to really step up their game with the next gen iPhone.

Plus... I'll give up the chin for that nice looking brushed metal. :)

I'm looking forward to getting the HTC Hero also.

I'm giving my up my BB Tour, tired of all the freezes, random reboots multiple times a day and the calendar duplicating the hell out of itself.

I just hope it lives up to all the hype and the review videos I've been watching the past few days.

I'm in the same boat. I had the Tour for 30 days, and didn't fall in love, what with the unusable bluetooth, the tiny screen, and the unhappy face I made every time I dropped a call. I am very hopefull that I made the right choice, and can't wait for next Sunday!
