What Tasker profiles is everyone using?? (This thread is NOT for requesting help with profiles)

Just set these profiles, not sure if its possible to streamline them

Wifi Near
Context - Wifi Near
Task - Stop

Wifi Connected
Context - Wifi Connected
Take - Wifi On / Set Bluetooth Off

Wifi Disconnected
Context - Wifi not connected
Task - Wifi Off / Set Bluetooth Toggle

Work
Context - Wifi connected (work SSID)
Task - Auto sync off

Bluetooth
Context - Bluetooth Connected
Task - Bluetooth On

Will add a similar one to work for home I think and a time limit for sleep

Im not sure why you'd want Bluetooth to toggle on wifi disconnect instead of just turn on.

Also your last one, Bluetooth has to be on to be connected, so the task is irrelevant in that profile?

Oh and on the first one "task - stop", stop what?

Just trying to save battery. Theory being that when I leave home or the office, Wifi will disconnected, then wanted to toggle Bluetooth and if it picked up my car kit, then turn on.

Is there a more efficient way?

It just seems to leave room for error. For instance, if while at work, you Bluetooth a song or contact to a colleague, but forget to turn Bluetooth off, when you leave the office and lose wifi, your Bluetooth will 'toggle off' so it will be off when you get to your car. Instead just lose the wifi and turn Bluetooth on, much less room or error.

Ok so you say not to bother switching Bluetooth off then.

This is what I was recommended on my last phone when I was configuring.

What setup would you recommend?

Switch Bluetooth off by all means, just not with a toggle.

And I still don't see what "stop" is actually stopping?

Was using the toggle to check but think I've got the wrong idea there. I was thinking it would check to see if near a bluetooth connection but thinking now it doesn't

Ok I've modified the Wifi not connected one to have Bluetooth On. Shame there isn't a Bluetooth Near like there is Wifi Near. Didn't want to be walking around town as an example with Bluetooth on. Could maybe do with a NFC sticker in my car to switch Bluetooth on as that's the only time.

Also removed the other Bluetooth profile because as you say it's not needed

Another thing, for a profile where you have wifi on, and have Internet via that wifi (home/work etc) you might sell task mobile data to be off. Then upon wifi disconnect the original settings will be restored or you can add an exit task if you need different values.

Thats how I have mine setup. I have the exit task set to turn data back on, as I found it wasn't coming back on at times.

Toggle is justike a toggle switch. It will change the current state of a device to the opposite state. (if on, toggle to off, if off toggle to on) that's all it does.

Set the NFC tag to turn on bluetooth and also make discoverable for 2 minutes, then load an app. (try car home ultra in play store - its awesome)

Then as soon as your ignition & stereo are on, dock your phone, bluetooth will be on & discoverable, the app will load and connect.

You can use multiple contexts to trigger a home/work profile using "cell near" and "bluetooth connected" to trigger a task, or more specifically, INVERT "bluetooth connected".

This means that when you pull up to your drive, cell near kicks in, but as your engine is still on, and the bluetooth connection is still there, your profile wont activate, HOWEVER, turn the engine off, and both profile contexts are met, (bluetooth connection drops - the invert tick box, hense bluetooth disconnected) and the task will run. So you can task your mobile data to turn off, wifi on, auto sync on, etc etc.

So this is all with NFC tag and an NFC app, nothing to do with Tasker?

I was being a dumb brain about the toggle, ignore me lol

This is done this way to suit dumb car docks. If you have a powered car dock you can just use tasker and use a "when docked" context.

The thing with a dumb dock is you need to find a trigger to kick everything off.

An NFC sticker is nice and simple, you could use tasker and program it to use variables and take your travelling speed to get everything going but it's a lot more effort. You could also trigger it to kick off with your work wifi disconnect as a context. The reason i didnt is because i don't have wifi at work to be able to use it as a context, so i had to be a little more inventive.

When i get home I'll do a proper guide with pics and links. That should be much easier to follow.

I guess the point is, if your in a situation where you can't find a tasker context to kick off a profile, you can use an NFC sticker and tell it to do "some" of the things tasker can do (change radio states, display states etc etc) and you can tell it to just run a tasker profile.

Yep, I don't have a dock or anything. Tasker seems to do basic things that I want, just thinking it would be good to leave Bluetooth off to save battery drain - although not sure how much it would save.

When in the car, just purely want Bluetooth on to enable connection to my car kit, don't need sat nav or anything. Looking at tags here NFC Tags and Products - RapidNFC they seem pretty cheap and would make use of the NFC on my N4

Rapid nfc are pretty good, i think that's where i got mine from.

The trick is getting a good nfc app. This has already been covered elsewhere so I'll be brief as to not go too far off topic.

NFC Re-Tag work, not by programing the sticker itself, but by reading the sticker UID and running tasks associated to that UID that are stored on your phone (in the NFC Re-Tag app) the one obvious bonus to this is you don't have to worry what capacity of sticker to get, because you don't use it unless you actually WANT to write data to the sticker (which of course NFC Re-Tag will also do)

Add to that, if you happen to have a proximity ID card for work, they can usually be used purely to grab a UID from too (say if you had your badge id on your belt, you could NFC your phone to it on your way out for a smoke to turn display brightness up, then again on your way back in to the building to turn it into auto brightness)

I have a normal In Car Profile with pretty much everything on with Car Home loaded. While In Car mode if the car starts to go over 5 MPh the Navigation will come on automatically. This idea came from also using the automatic sms while driving which I also use.

Profile: Auto Navigate
Context
Profile Active In Car

Task
Get Location 100
Perform Task Convert_LOCSPD_MPH if over 5 MPH
Wait 2 if over 5 MPH
Load App Navigation if over 5 MPH
wail 2 if over 5 MPH
Dpad Up 2 if over 5 MPH
Dpad Right 1 if over 5 MPH
Dpad Press 1 if over 5 MPH

I use gmail to forward all emails to my phone via sms, then tasker uses that as a context.

Profile: SMS Gmail Wifi Sync
Context
Recieve Text from G-mail
Near Home Cells
Not Power

Task
Wifi On
Sync On
Wait 2 Mins

Exit Task
Wifi Off
Sync Off

Profile: SMS Email Data Auto Sync
Context
Recieve Text from G-mail
Not Near Home Cells
Not Power

Task
Data On
Sync On
Wait 2 Mins

Exit Task
Data Off
Sync Off

I also use the same idea for google voice to sync, google voice will email if i recieve a text,

call, or voicemai that is fowarded to my phone via sms.

Profile: Google Voice SMS Wifi Sync
Context
Recieve Text from G-mail
Near Home Cells
Not Power

Task
Wifi Sync
Wifi On
Sync On
Wait 2 Mins

Exit Task
Wifi Off
Sync Off

Profile: Google Voice SMS Data Sync
Context
Recieve Text from G-mail
Not Near Home Cells
Not Power

Task
Data On
Sync On
Wait 2 Mins

Exit Task
Data Off
Sync Off

I think we should get a good thread going with how everyone has set up profiles in Tasker. With so many options, sometimes I overlook a really cool way to set up a profile. Here is what I have, post yours:

1. Bedtime
Context -
Time: 2130-0300
Orientation: Left Side
Power: Plugged in
Tasks -
Media Volume set
Load app - White noise
Wait - 5 seconds
Load app - digital clock

2. Quite Clock
Context - same as above but time until 1000
Tasks - Notification volume - set
Exit task - notification volume set

3. Car
Context - Bluetooth connected
Tasks -
Media volume set
Wifi off
Exit tasks -
Bluetooth off
Wifi off

4. Call
Context - Incoming call
Tasks -
Auto brightness on IF %CNUM !~ 0
Ringer volume set to 0 IF %CNUM ~ 0
Wait 45 seconds
Auto brightness off
Ringer volume set 15

That is mine except for a few really basic ones. There is still 1 I want to set up:
-Face down at a certain time -> screen lock, otherwise no lock, alarm triggered until unlocked if picked up.

So what is everyone else doing?
Someone please tell me (write it out) what the tasker profile or task would be to once and for all accomplish the following : End vibration during calls. Unless my HTC Vivid is pressed right up against my head (which I avoid), it will vibrate when an outgoing call connects. This always happens when calls connect even though my phone settings say otherwise. Apparently, this is a problem with all HTC phones. I bought and downloaded tasker thinking I'd be able to find this profile or task in the user guides but it is not there. I can't have vibration at all on my phone or any other device as I am trying to avoid serious health issues such as carpel-tunnel syndrome. Please help.

Kind of new to this and learning here is one I use at night to set the alarm for 10 hours from the time I plug it in. I also ues autoalram to see if there is already an alarm set to prevent duplacate alarms.

Profile: Set Alarm
State: Power [ Source:Any ]
task Perform Task Ask

Profile: Respond
State: AutoAlarm
task
A1: Variable Set [ Name:%MINTOALARM To:%minutesc Do Maths:On Append:Off ] If [ %minutesc Is Set ]
A2: Variable Set [ Name:%MINTOALARM To:0 Do Maths:On Append:Off ] If [ %minutesc ! Set ]
A3: Perform Task [ Name:Set Alarm Time Stop:Off Priority:5 Parameter 1 (%par1): Parameter 2 (%par2): Return Value Variable: ] If [ %MINTOALARM = 0 ]

task
Set Alarm Time
A1: Variable Split [ Name:%TIME Splitter:. Delete Base:On ]
A2: Variable Set [ Name:%alarm To:%TIME1 Do Maths:On Append:Off ]
A3: Variable Set [ Name:%count To:0 Do Maths:Off Append:Off ]
A4: Variable Add [ Name:%count Value:1 Wrap Around:0 ]
A5: Variable Add [ Name:%alarm Value:1 Wrap Around:0 ]
A6: Variable Set [ Name:%alarm To:0 Do Maths:On Append:Off ] If [ %alarm > 23 ]
A7: Goto [ Type:Action Number Number:4 Label: ] If [ %count < 10 ]
A8: Set Alarm [ Hours:%alarm Minutes:%TIME2 Message: Confirm:Off ]
A9: Set Alarm [ Hours:0 Minutes:0 Message: Confirm:Off ]

It seems to work. If nothing else it has given me an understanding of using variables.

I use UCCW with Tasker integration to show CID, sender and subject in SMS and email widgets.
