Root Official Connect MS840/MS840V Firmware (Newest is VV6)

As a cab file it is used with KP500-Utils, you can google it....it's on xda.
You start with phone on, or in recovery mode or in emergency mode (aka download mode) and connected to the computer by USB.

As a KDZ the phone is still in one of those modes, KDZ is just easier to use in general.

You must also have LG Mobile Support Tool installed when using KP500 (not needed with KDZ version).

I have the tot for LGNPST too, just need to hack a dll up for it n test it. ;)

Yea, lots of DLLs are missing.....an LS855 dll would be helpful too! All I have is LS855_Model.DLL..........but I have found that you can flash the .tot or bin with the usage of any old MS690 dll....I also have a working LW690.dll if you need/want it ;)

Yea I've not been brave enough to experiment with the dll's too much. I was told they at least need to be for a similar device ie. msm8660 etc.

On the esteem we used the vs910.dll just fine and I have the vs920.dll which is a msm8660 like the connect is. When opened in a hexeditor tho, I've not found any specific architecture listed lol.

I will upload the tot I have along with a edited dll if you wanna test em out.

you will need LGNPST 1.3 Developer Edition tho, you can find it on XDA. You will see why I dont link it when you find it, just search for it. ;)

kinda hard for you to test then huh lmao

I have a folder full of tot's lol, mostly for the lg 840 line.

I used KDZ on a Marquee recently and I must say its quite easy to use. Well timing can be tricky. lol

I prefer KDZ over LGNPST because of how easy it is for noobs to use xD. But as far as using it to make multiple phones use the same number, LGNPST is the best, as long as they're all LG phones haha.

yes i'm doing this with a pc using kdz-updater
1. enter download mode, then flashing to LS840ZVD => it works
2. enter download mode again, flashing back to MS840ZVA => stucked at LG logo
3. download mode again, flashing the LS840ZVD => it's booting normally
4. so, my last effort is trying to recover my backup via CWM, but no go

my real device is MS840 LG connect, but accidentally flashed to sprint LG viper

Did you convert the cab to a kdz before flashing?

Hey SammyZ, I now have the KP500 on my PC, and have all LG drivers I need, but WHOA. HTF do you use KP, and how do you convert the ZVA .cab file to a kdz? I'm a bit confused since I see an option to assist with flashing a .cab

Well, in case you're wondering, I'm running BOC ROM on my Connect, and I can't use the LG updater tool since it thinks I'm already current with my firmware. I'm only wondering how the whole KP500 thingy works in case I brick my phone again. I'm scared of using nand restore on my CWM.

Sorry to bump an old topic, but I did a double take while scrolling! Did this yield a working phone in some way? I'm just curious about the end result!

@spec, to flash ZV9, just do the same as the motion, except to enter download mode:

Leave phone off, hold volume up+down, plug in USB.

Gotcha! Thx sammy :D Instead of using KP-500 above I just used the kdz flasher I had left from when I restored my OM. Very easy to do, running ZV8 now... Say, what was the purpose of these updates besides battery issues?
