When an update comes...

Just a thought,

With the whole Hero 2.1 update talk I know there were different dates for the updates depending on carrier, ie Sim Free Update, Orange Update and 3 Update.

My Desire was from the carphone warehouse on Orange but I believe they come unbranded so if a similar update arrives for the desire would I go for the "sim free" or the "orange" version?

I know it wont happen for a while but got to be ready for these things :)

:D

Cheers

I got my over the air update around 10 days ago.

I have a SIM free Desire - All went fine and the handset is running smoothly.

Yeah I got an OTA update last week so Im guessing the phone will know what type of update it needs.

Are there specific ROM updates for different carriers like Sim Free or Orange or will they be the same also?

Gotta imagine they are all the same - however Networks such as O2 have certain issues accepting ROMS from HTC - when I had my HD2 O2 were way behind for a while as they wouldn't accept the latest ROMS.

MY Desire (on O2) has the following:

Firmware version:
2.1 -update1

Baseband version:
32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11

Kernel version:
2.6.29............@and18-2 #1 (dont need all)

Build number:
1.15.405.......5070

Software number:
1.15.405.4

Browser version
Webkit 3.1
