Just Your Advice.

Hello guys. I had my N4 for around 5months. I just want your advice. I am not over happy with it. I am not sure why I am not happy with it. Its a problem I can't quiet put my finger on.

I need your advice as I am thinking about swapping it. Maybe for a S3 or something. Just some of your honest advice would be good.

Maybe you need something completely different like a note 2 as its insane size and s pen might be more to to your liking.

If I had the cash. Unless you have one for swap lol. Which is better the N4 or the note 2. I'm really stumped. As 90% of the N4 is amazing. There is just that little 10% that I'm not happy with.

Not being a wise guy; but nothing is perfect, 90% is pretty good. If you can't say what's wrong with the phone, my guess is you're board with it and want a new toy- which there's nothing wrong with.
I'm coming back to android after a while out on the iPhone, I want a phone I can tweak and make it to my liking, and not what apple says I can or can't have.

A lot of people who were accustomed to the whistles and bells of the manufacturer's launchers like TouchWiz (Samsung), Blur (Motorola) or SenseUI (HTC) find the pure Android experience of a Nexus to be a bit dull.

I've owned both and can honestly say that the Nexus phones are more work, but I've kept them longer and ultimately been more satisfied with them.

There might also be the recognition factor. You whip out an S3 or a Note or an iPhone and everyone knows what it is. You show someone a Nexus and they look at you like you are either a Geek (if theyu actually know what a Nexus is) or you bought some cheep off-brand piece of junk.

My most previous phone prior to my current Nexus 4 was the Galaxy S3 on both Verizon and AT&T. I also used the iPhone 5 for a bit, and had the OG Galaxy Note (international version) prior to all those.

I don't think I was 100% happy with ANY of those phones. 90% sure. I don't know if it's possible to be 100% happy. There's always something.
I hated the S3 on Verizon, that damn wifi always in the notification shade and i had a big issue with letting anyone else touch my phone. there just wasn't enough negative space, whether people hit the capacitive buttons when trying to take a picture or volume/power while watching videos, it was just really annoying. The Note was too big and clunky. It was very awkward at times. I use my phone while doing other stuff a lot, so it just doesn't work out for me.

I can say that I've decided to try my first ROM on the Nexus and it made an already impressive phone, that much more. Also, from my very little experience rooting/ROM'ing with the S3's I had, tweaking things on the Nexus is MUCH easier. So simple.

However, there are a few things that have me looking towards that HTC ONE. Audio on the Nexus sucks. Watching videos requires you to cup your hand around the back so you can hear it. Those dual amped up front speakers on the HTC ONE make complete sense!
Also, I'm rocking the Nexus naked and the glass has me SO nervous, all the time.
The camera isn't great. Close-up shots are actually very good. But taking regular shots requires a lot of pre-shot tweaking and it's typically a little fuzzy. I'm excited about HTC's new camera, especially since the camera on the ONE X was pretty darn good.
My one "can't live without it" on the Nexus is tethering. I don't pay for a home wireless service, I use my t-mobile prepaid data for my laptop when I'm at home. It's very simple and straightforward, built into the Nexus. I will absolutely root the ONE, so I'm not too concerned with losing that. Plus, in learning about root and rom, you pretty much negate any "pure android" argument because there are plenty of ROMs out there that mimic that pure android experience that can be applied to any rooted phone out there like the S3, Note 2, HTC ONE.

Maybe the OP ain't happy coz he has a pre-release N4 - it's 4 months since release date and he's had his phone 5 months

But seriously, it would be interesting to know what makes up the 10% that dissatisfies ..

I like my N4 although I'm getting a little bored with it and can't be bothered to root or customize any more.

I guess I would try the new HTC One if I was going to swap - for the hardware at least.

Firstly, I bore easily!

Secondly, I've followed Android since Day1/G1! I had all of the Nexus models and although the hardware is different, JB doesn't seem to have moved much for me since the ICS experience on the Galaxy Nexus...

Don't get me wrong, the phone is great and I have switched before to HTC Sense or Samsung (whatever its called) and regretted it.

I'll be staying with the N4, just don't find idly playing around with it as interesting anymore.

Maybe I'll take a close interest in the reported Motorola X Phone and see if that's all it's cracked up to be...

I can understand the OP's sentiment. Ive had my N4 since November and its probably the best phone Ive ever had. It replaced the Gnex which replaced the N1. In between Ive had many other phones just to play with. Heck, just last month I bought an iPhone5 just to see what the hoopla about it was(returned it a week later though).

Now Im itching for the BBZ10 or the HTC One(or both). I just need to scratch those itches and see what they have to offer. Nothing wrong with my N4 at all and I probably don't even use it to 40% of its ability. I just like having the newest and latest thing out there.
