Help Samsung galaxy note jelly bean official update

As promised, here are my battery stats for JB.

Considering I have hammered my phone since I updated it to JB(it's like having a new phone), the battery life has been excellent. I love the new Multi Window and the new gallery stuff, as well as the s-pen improvements etc. All in all, I am very happy with JB and think it's well worth upgrading.

The only way you could get Air View on your Note, would be to root and jump through a few hoops. There are some guides on how to do this if you do a Google search for them. Personally, I don't think it's worth it just for one app, but maybe that's just me mate.

I downloaded the com.sec.feature.hovering_ui file and tried to transfer it to the permissions folder through Root Browser, but won't work as I can't seem to edit permissions of the folder.

Do you think it only works for rooted phones?

Howard, what about Smart Rotation? It doesn't seem to be on the Note 1 either. Does yours have it? Really wanted that feature, cos I'm usually whatsapping on my bed and the damn thing goes into horizontal mode all the time. Really annoying! Grrrrrr

I'm in the UK but my phone is from Germany originally. I put the German JB ROM on my phone as soon as it was released, using Odin, since I received nothing OTA or via KIES. But after a few days with it, and despite thorough wiping, I found battery life to be very poor with WiFi enabled. I tried to get to the bottom of the problem but could not spot the reason for the drain. I posted on the XDA forums and I'm not alone in my disappointment.

Yesterday I wiped the phone and returned to ICS, again using Odin and full wipes with Philz kernel. A few minutes into setting the phone up I noticed the OTA update downloading automatically. I let it download, but I am not applying it yet. I don't see any point. There are some nice new features, but the screen tap sound is annoying and the battery life with WiFi on makes it a non starter for me

I remember the days when we were all screaming to get ICS and the first couple of ROMs for that were pretty iffy. It seems to me that history is repeating itself again. Personally I would not be in a rush to get JB right now.

I am extremely unhappy with my Samsung Galaxy Note I for many reasons.
J

I agree, but you forgot big items:

1. Random freeze ups (power cycle to recover). I could not even count on the alarm clock to wake me.
2. Voice talk - well what can I say, it was a throwback to the 80's. We had to wait on ICS to be able to disable it. Under Honeycomb you just had to live with it popping up.
3. Looses marbles and will not communicate with the network unless power cycled almost daily. Tried four different carriers.
4. The stylus detects a tap 3 cm above the glass. Useless.
5. Do movies work? I have no idea? Some movies play for a few seconds, then say "cannot retrieve license", then expire in 24 hours unwatched. Others just complain "Cannot play on rooted device". Hello, my phone is NOT rooted.
6. Speaking of rooting. None of the techniques on youtube work.
7. About 1 in every 5 apps an the Android market hang.
8. I bought mine in Germany. No customer support is available out of region.
9. Cannot play music though bluetooth headset.

Most of my friends who bought the GN1 bought an iPhone. I still use mine as a reader, or for games. I picked it back up today because I noted JB was out. Did the bugs get fixed? That is what I am wondering about, and that is why I am back here.

I am not really an Apple person. I do not like the spirit of Steve Jobs controlling everything, but Steve got something right... Reliability.

I did try to like my Galaxy Note. I really did. I hated it, and so did everyone else I know who bought one.

You must have a defective note tbh. I've experienced none of the problems you've mentioned.

You probably have, but if you haven't tried a factory reset then you should give that a try.

The tech at the Singtel reseller kiosk at SimLim mall reset it. The tech stated, "This model has many problems". The Google customer support guy said, "You must be using a Galxy Note". The phone has a interesting reputation.

I did the factory reset myself each time an upgrade came down.

Everyone I know has the same problems. The Galaxy S3, and the Note II seem to work Ok.
