Maybe its just me but when I get a new phone, I like to open the box and take the phone out by myself. The reason why I say this is because last year when I got the Pre, the store rep opened up the new box took my phone out and activated it before I could even get my hands on it. Before the Pre I got all of my phones delivered through telesales so I could open them up alone. Am I crazy. Am i the only one? I just love taking off the wrapper and opening the box and getting the aroma of new cell phone. Please tell me im not the only one.

I'll be telling the rep that i'll be opening this one myself... and he just needs to do the work on his end to switch my Tp2 over to a new line and give the Evo my current number. I'll take care of the rest. I love opening the box.

You can do this online if you really want to. I've done it many times with replacement phones and spares. Just put in the ESN or whatever it asks for and you can activate any phone on a given line in a minute or two.

as much as i enjoy it, i wouldn't order through tele and wait 3 days or whatever for the deliver... i would rather him open it and get it then than wait even 30 minutes just to open it myself... as long as he don't drop it we cool,

besides i box it back up and open it from scratch as soon as i get back in the car anyway and celebrate quietly to myself :)

Hahaha I'm the same way. I'll be right at that person's grill setting the phone up for me....just to make sure all is good. Then tell them to put it back in the box... seal it up and I open it when I get home lol. Ahhhh the freshness.

I love opening the box but I also like making sure all is well. I remember one time buying a device (forgot what it was...GARMIN, PSP...something with an LCD) and upon arriving home, finding dead pixels, dust under the screen, misbehaving pixels, etc. That kind of hassle of having to go back, wait in the customer service line for a replacement is just annoying. So in a way - it's good to verify everything is perfectly fine at the store before coming home to some annoying fluke of poor manufacturing QA. Although with HTC's reputation I'm sure it's probably rare right?

Only problem with that is that i'm an instant gratification type of guy. I don't like waiting for stuff in the mail.

Opening up ANY new purchase myself is always fun, but if it was a choice between getting a "better price" w/ the rep opening the box vs. a higher price giving me the chance to open the box...I think I choose the better price...LOL.

100% of the time, I'll go with the better price, even if that means I don't get to open the box first. My last phone, I was on the verge of purchasing from EVP...but they couldn't match the price I was going to get from Best Buy purchase, so I bought the phone from Best Buy. The rep had to open the box to activate the phone and update they Sprint system, but considering the price break I got...so worth it...and the cute girl that was taking care of the purchase was definitely a bonus.

I guess I wouldnt be so bad about it if the rep that opened the box and activated my pre had not taken like 2 minutes to get the back cover off. He also fumbled it a little while trying to get it off. When he went to get the manager he put my pre face down on the table. I was gonna say something but I then noticed that it had that protective film on the screen. I'm gonna get mine mailed if I can cause I just noticed today that UPS and Fedex come around 9:30 am.

Thats not even that bad bu when I got my Touck Pro a while back I had to teach the guy how to open the back, he was sqeezing and pulling the back piece left and right couldn't figure it out lol.

As far as I like opening boxes meh I don't relaly care as long as I get the phone. I certainly won't wait 3 days to get a phone I could have today if I really wanted it just so someone else doesn't touch it.

I wonder if the title of this thread, "Do you like to open the box?" will work as a pick-up line at the bar?
I honestly have a brother that would ask questions like that in a club. He has gotten cursed out, slapped, and pushed away. He may ask this question 20 times but he always gets at least one that will say yes. I wouldnt dare try anything like that but I cant knock him for trying.

now that part always pissed me off lol when they open it and go "aww cool first one i've activated, hey look at this aww that is cool, whoa it does this"

i really wish they would just do their job and learn the hardware on company or their time and NOT customer time
Lol, Those are the ones I usually get.
