I live in the USA and I just bought a Desire on eBay. It cost me $645 USD. I had a Nexus One but sold it when the HTC HD2 came out. I am waiting for the HTC Evo and I wanted to see how nice the 4.3 inch screen would be. Needless to say I have always hated Windows Mobile and even with sense it is still a pig in lipstick. Anyway I won't get my Desire until Monday AHHHHH! I had eBay bucks so I ended up only paying $70 more than if I bought another Nexus One, plus I get sense. Anyway I am not worried about it not getting US 3G I am always around Wi Fi plus believe it or not my Edge connection is pretty fast. Long story short I WANT MY DESIRE NOW!!!!!!!! :)
If anyone else wants one who is not in the UK P.M. me and I will tell you which seller I bought from he is trustworthy!!!

That is who I got if from. I ordered Sunday and when I was wondering where the tracking # was today I called and he explained people are ordering so many he is shipping up to 5 days after payment. He also said due to the back log he would give me overnight shipping at his company's discount price. I liked the Nexus but I know I am going to like the sense experience a little more. Also the Nexus has some issues with the speaker not being quite loud enough or when it is loud it is a bit distorted. I have heard the Desire is a bit better in this area. I will let you know how I like it, if you order one in the next day or so mention my screen name to him and say I am from PA, tell him I recommended you. Thanks!!

The question for me is, how does it compare to the N1?

Being in NZ we haven't and wont get a release of either phone here, so I am going to be buying offshore. Both phones can be had for the same price. But what benefits does the Desire have over the N1?

I like what can be with rooting the N1 with the themes and custimaztion. Does the Desire offer the same sort of things?

Really can't make my mind up between the two and it's driving me nuts. I want to be rid of my iPhone.

instead of looking at the total price you should look at the comparison to other phones of the same or similar money and work out whether you think it is better or worse than those.

you cant change the general price of it so have to accept that phones cost that much even if you think theyre expensive so you either want it more than an equivalently priced phone or you dont.

i think a phone that can draw previous iPhones haters and lovers alike has to be something special (read the posts above at previous iphone owners)

it's worth every penny i paid for it!

current phone supremacy!

As far as I know, the Desire is effectively the sucessor to the Nexus One. I don't know about the processor and/or Android version, but a real, if only small, difference is that they've replaced the trackball with a laser/touchpad thingy (like the Legend).

Basically, the Desire is the superior phone and, especially if the price is no different, then there's no reason to go for the Nexus. Desire all the way...had mine for a week now and love it!

The guy I bought mine off of on ebay has done a few things, First he has now lowered the price on ebay but if you go to his website popularelect.com it is even lower! Also mine was not to ship until Friday but he e mailed me and I checked the tracking, it will be here tomorrow! I get it at least 3 days or more earlier!!!!! I will let you know how it is when it comes. If you live in the US and want a Desire this is the place to go! He has tons! Or you can wait until the HTC EVO comes out in June or late May and I will be selling mine..lol :)
