What kind of headphones do you use?

I find Skullcandys to be better than the average earphones.

They sound great for the price! I have been considering trying something slightly more high end, though. Nothing outrageous, I can't see myself dropping $300 on earbuds just to listen to mp3s on my phone. I have a decent home system for real music listening.

I have numerous sets, Sennheiser, Shure, Klipsch, Beats Tours, a pair of active nc Pioneers for travel, a Samsung HS3000 bluetooth stereo adapter with apt-x codec so I can use any of my phones as a wireless headset and for when I want clear but powerful sound, a Fiios E6 portable headphone amp for the phone and a Cowen and Creative Zen pmp.

I used to have these, but I hated them with a passion. Always fell out of my ear with the slightest movement. Never again shall I purchase a pair of buds.

Just a $50 pair of Skullcandy. My earbuds are Skullcandy also and they sound fantastic.

I had a pair of those. Several pairs, in fact. Agree about the sound, fit etc. The issue I had was that the back kept falling off the earpieces. RHA blamed early manufacturing issues (I got 'em within weeks of the release) and replaced them maybe 3 or 4 times, but I eventually just gave up.

Shame - I kinda liked them.

I now have some MEElectronics M6s. I've had them for maybe 6 weeks and - so far - they've been fine. The sound isn't quite up with the Shures I had (cable issues, replaced 4 times before giving up) but, for me, it's at least as good as the RHAs.

They're also pretty comfortable, not as comfortable as the Shures but quite a bit more comfortable than the RHAs.

The M6s also have braided cables, like the RHAs and are over-ear, like the Shures. The model I have includes a mic that works well though the (single) button only appears to be good for ending calls with my N4.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with them.

I have to say, though if it wasn't that the plastic around cable kept coming away near the earphone, the Shures were the best earphones I've owned. And the most expensive. By far.

Just to be clear, you can use the bluetooth dongle that comes with this with ANY headset, right? In other words, you pair your phone to the BT dongle and then you plug any headphones into the universal jack to have your headphones wireless from your mobile phone, laptop, tablet... whatever. Right?

Also, does that button it it act as the button on wired headphones where you can use apps to make it play, pause, answer phone calls, skips songs, yadda?

Yes to all of the above, it takes any standard 3.5mm headphone and turns it into a stereo bluetooth headset, I got it because I have so many decent headphones, it's nicer than having to shop for just a wireless device, it has the mic built-in, and sounds pretty good, you don't need an app, it has dedicated buttons on the side , all of the transport functions work with PowerAmp, it was about $25 as a Newegg shell shocker.

It comes with a pair of buds that are alright for phone calls, not so much with music, the only thing special about them is a short, about 24" cable so that they don't dangle if you attach it to your shirt. I love it, being able to pick different ear gear for different music and being wireless without limiting your choices to head phones with a built in mic.

Yeah, my PowerBeats are just a little bit too short to plug in and throw into my cargo pocket where I keep my phone. They come with an extension but then that's just WAY too long and it loops down near my shin so it's not an option. I like the idea of this thing as I can clip it in a pocket and have my phone separate. Of course this means quicker battery drain streaming over BT than hard wired but for some this might be worth it.

It's definitely a niche product but I'm quite happy with it, as to the power I haven't seen a terrible hit while streaming, the device itself is about the same width as a stick of gum, as thick as 3 sticks, and about as tall as ⅔ of a stick. Even with it's small size I can usually get 4-6 hours of continuous use before charging, one last thing is that it supports pairing to 2 different devices.

That does beg the question: What, aside from a fancy-sounding made-up name does Wolfson have going for it? On the pro side of the industry, the company has no standing, and Yamaha is quite well respected.

So is there anything to it, or is it just hype?

At $350 there's better options, but for $89 nothing will touch them. Paired with a set of Comply foam tips the clarity, detail and separation is amazing.

If ear buds are falling out or uncomfortable you're using the wrong tips. Probably just as important as the IEM's themselves.

Nice find, and I totally agree with you concerning the tips. Comply might sound expensive at $5 a pair but if you take care of them a set will last for a few months. $20 a year is pretty inexpensive when you consider what $ you have invested in your iem's.

V-Moda Crossfade LP2, I'm a bass player and we use headphone monitors for live play. These headphones rock. I play a five string bass tuned to a low B, when I an playing through my headphones, I can barely tell the difference between playing over the amp or playing through the headphones. Even on the low B then is no distortion. For music, I listen to everything from Progressive Metal to dubstep and they have given a crystal clear sound no matter what I play through them. I let my friends try them out, and I always have a hard time getting them back because their music sounds so clear, it's like listening to the song again for the first time.
