If it was really going to be for the 15'th of this month, I'd sure think it would have been announced by now. I keep reading about the dates in Europe and parts of Asia, but can't find anything on this side of the pond. Anybody else?

Nope, I just checked the websites at Sprint, Best Buy, Radio Shack and all still say "coming soon." My upgrade isn't until 1 APR, but I'm hoping for an earlier release so I'm not backlogged too much...

I don't believe any official hard date,other than MARCH 2013,was announced by HTC.

Otherwise,you are absolutely correct,we probably would have heard something by now if the date was indeed the 15th.

It still amazes me (although it shouldn't anymore) when a rumor,half-truth,etc.,is repeated enough,even by questionable sources,that some take everything they read @face value,before digging in to find the facts.

Too bad all these "sources" aren't held accountable for the drivel that spews from their sites

Best thing one can do is avoid these sources & steer clear of their websites,hurt them where it counts:in their wallets.

This is somewhat carrier-dependent, so I've merged this with the price/carrier thread - nothing personal.

Yeah - recall last year - HTC announced the US release date for the One X and One S, the carriers jumped on board, then Apple attorneys stepped in at the last minute with total baloney sausage so that the phones were held up in US Customs because Apple was sure they were still in violation of a patent or two. (Which they weren't, but that's another story.)

HTC took all kinds of black eyes for that, even though it was nothing more than a dirty, lowdown Apple trick.

They may be playing it very close to the vest this year so they don't get ambushed by the legal jackals again.

Although this is only one market (UK),at least it's some sort of indication when the rest of us can expect availability of the ONE.Hopefully,more firm dates will start rolling before the UK release.

Well first this is for the UK market so more than likely it will not affect the US. I would imagine that they manufactured a set amount for the US or at least sourced the material out for the US in advance. That being said as someone who works around electronic manufacturing in China this happens all the time from even the most trusted vendors. My guess would be the materials probably relate back to Lithium Ion...just a hunch though. If so then there really is no way to foresee it way in advance as demand for it is growing every day. If HTC is doing business the correct way they wouldn't have inside knowledge on a bigger release coming. If most didn't know basically all the major technology manufactures use the same three sources in China for lithium ion...or so I've heard anyways.

Asian stock analyst said there were low-yield issues for the camera sensor and the motor - and he has a good track record, so everyone is calling that golden.

That said - his great track record is built up around giving positive buying advice and correct predictions about Apple's exciting breakthroughs - so - you know.

He may be right.

We may also want to start buying stock in passed salt, too.

And some reports are saying April for the US.

Low initial yields on new silicon is pretty much expected.

Between that, and how can you really screw up the voice-coil for motors (the phone vibrator, also rumored to have yield problems), I'm really wondering about that scare.

I mean, I hate to sound like the fanboy, and there could be something to it - but with what I know of the semiconductor industry as well as how crooked some financial analysts are, I just want to wait until we get real info on this one.

HTC is really courting the Chinese market - huge demand for their products there.

And plus - they may have simply decided to give themselves time to adjust if there are any SGS4 surprises they want to address competitively.

I had no idea the phone was supposed to be released this week, let alone sometime this month. I have thought later this spring..

After the drama with apple holding up HTC shipments last year, I decided not to be so close to speculation threads.

That said, the 29th is a pleasant surprise....

I can live with the delay, I'd just like to have a firm date. I emailed HTC earlier and they said the same as you, that it's carrier dependent. I took that as BS, though, as the carries are going to release them as soon as HTC gets the units to them.

Yeah - it's more circular and inter-dependent than BS, I think.

We've seen the one for Sprint hit the FCC, not sure why we haven't seen the others.

And we know that Sprint for example does test the final production models as good for their cell net, as do other carriers, before giving a final green light.

How that plays against "HTC gets the units to them" can fall into semantics or just mean what it means - depends a lot on point of view.

IMO I don't agree with HTC and they're release date. My advice would have been to prepare better and get this thing out as soon as possible, and without a doubt at least 3/4 weeks before the S4 announcement. Now with the world paying attention to Samsung and what they're bringing to the table, you can bet HTC is going to get creamed. Its just the reality of things, nobody can really compete with Samsung right now and they're marketing ability, and for HTC...a company that's really on the comeback trail, this is not good timing. I for one think that the ONE looks beautiful, but I doubt it will be able to compete with the S4's marketing buzz and what not. Bad timing HTC, just my 2 cents.

Definitely not sweating in the least. What's a couple weeks or month of waiting, no biggie @ all.

A good number of folks here are probably less than a year into their current handsets anyway, & aren't going to rush out on opening day for any phone.
