Who else haven't noticed call lag

I am still reading through that thread, but unless something has changed, Sprint controls the Slot Cycle setting at the network level, meaning you can set your phone to 0, 1, 2, 3, etc., and eventually the network will override whatever your phone is set to and revert you back to 2 (though your phone will still display whatever setting you selected).

Can somebody tell us newbies what the call lag is and what is CSI and how should we check it?
Thanks and I don't think I have had it yet, lol!!!

NCH
I think you are refering to SCI, not CSI, which is a TV show. LOL Slot Cycle Index. Roughly refers to the time it takes your phone to actually alert you that a call in coming in. (ringing)

Call lag, refers to the delay in that alert. The caller may hear 3 rings before your Hero rings one time, hence you may miss the call as it may go to voicemail before you get to answer it.

The thread linked above gives excelent instructions on how to reslove this in most cases

Fast typing... sorry for the CSI, will fix it...

Simply put... the cell towers and phone are constantly pinging each other, let's say, for awareness. Yes, there are network settings which we can't control, but we CAN control the Phone's Ping delay or response time. This setting on the phone is called the Slot Cycle Index and is changeable.

To do this is pretty simple and I used my house phone and cell phone to confirm it quickened the Cell phones response time. Considering Sprint defaults to 5 rings then voice mail... it was a problem that a caller would hear 2-3 rings prior to my cell phone ringing. This only gave me a 2 ring chance to catch the call or it would goto voicemail. After changing the setting to 0, my phone now rings 1-2 times before my cell does. Haven't missed a call since.

Anyway, hope that explains it just a little, in simplified terms ;)

Happy Trails!
