To all you idiots out there. KNOCK IT OFF! We have just lost a great dev because of numerous users not searching, complaining, being stupid, not searching ( i know i said it twice) and not reading. Because of a few users on here and other forums, certain devs have now stopped developing and even pulling their hard work they did for FREE for others to enjoy.

I am not a dev nor anything close but I know where they are coming from as I work in a similar field and can feel their pain. It is because of these people we are able to do so much more with our phones. The damage is already done on some, but we can stop it from continuing on for our current devs.

Search before you post. More than likely, your question has already been posted 10000 times and answered. Need help right away, check out the IRC chan. They are helpful. Remember to say thank you. Remember to give credit when due.

Thank you devs, current and old, for all your hard work.

DONT F THIS UP FOR THE REST OF US YOU IDIOTS!!!!

We need to keep all the devs we can, it helps with diversity of released ROMs, new techniques, and the health of the phone as far as longevity. EOL for the Eris means nothing when you have good devs, as the new releases and new ideas will keep your phones alive.

So please take droidkevlar's advice.....take a few minutes to search, dig, and exhaust the resources here and then ask your question. Most people are more than happy to help, but answering the same things over and over again gets old. The devs deserve our thanks and respect for what they do for us.

Yes, as a member of many forums, more senior in some, a newcomer such as here, and anywhere in between, I can say that using the search keeps everybody happy, the forums clean, and gets questions answered faster usually than a new post would. Just do it for the devs atleast guys, I want my eris to last 2 years.

Thank you devs.

I agree with this. I know this is a forum that you can come to for help if you have a problem, and I know the general idea is to be as helpful as possible without simply telling them to "search". But it has gone WAY too far this time. Thankfully we still have a FEW devs working for us, and hopefully this weekend one of them will see if the root exploit for the legend applies to us.

And although the shit has hit the fan over at XDA between jcase and EVERY FREAKIN PERSON asking about root status, and he has now left the Eris DEV team, we should all be grateful the amount of time he has put into this phone. Yes part of him leaving was that his phone broke, but that doesn't take away from the fact that 90% of his aggravation came from being asked and asked and asked and asked about the status of 2.1 root. And the sad thing is nobody bothers to look for this info on their own. They feel they are all entitled to demand that this info be fed to them. And when it's not what they want to hear, the bitch about the devs not doing everything they could. It's childish, and ignorant, and it has cost all of us alot of neat things that could have been.

The asking is annoying, but can be put up with. The asking has nothing to do with my decision to stop working on the eris.

The demanding, disrespecting and what not won't be. This was a major part.

Phones are not an issue. Down to two eris from three, but the new droid ain't bad at all.

Not be be and ahole but being bombarded with questions and disrespect comes with the dev territory...If you can't take it...move on and forget it....
Plus there is still some great devs out there...were not alone.

true, but there is also a certain boundary that shouldnt be crossed. and from what i have seen here and other forums, it has crossed that line. they are devs because they enjoy learning and helping other enjoy what they have learned. that doesnt mean they have to deal with dumb ass's 24/7

Questions don't bother me, to be given sh*t when I invest my own time and money into something, for free does. Don't like something that is my work, or how i do it? Move along.

Sorry to hear about all the issues you've had Jcase. just a little curious now, you gonna start working on ROMs for the Moto Droid now? I liked you work on the Eris, and would love to see what you can do with the Moto. Thanks for all the work you have done for this community, some if not most do appreciate it!!!

From being a businessman on the net for over 10 years i can say that people hiding behind a computer can be absolutely ruthless. I deal with teenagers and young adults all day everyday and let me tell you, you can never satisfy them, they will always want more. They will say things they would never say face to face because there is no consequences for their actions. Face to face they stand the chance of getting their face pounded in, but behind a pc they can type all the 4 letter words they want and act like brats and nothing can be done about it. I have a habit of banning people from my store if they don't treat us with respect. It takes alot to piss us off but from time to time we cross that line. Whats funny is we are the only north american outlet for the products we carry so from that point on they are forced to deal with stores overseas which have horrible customer service. In fact many times they come back begging us to sell to them and apologize over and over. Except once that line is crossed we don't care, they are gone for good, period. So a few brats get what they deserve from time to time but before you know it the next one shows up and its the same shit all over again. You see these same people posting comments about amazon, wal-mart, newegg, bestbuy and etc, so they are definately out there in numbers. I find a phone call can make them change their spots in a hurry. Many times someone will spew expletives on an email and we call them up and they turn into mr nice guy. Its funny. A few times we've even had parents contact us and say they did not know their kid was acting like that and they were grounding them for their conduct. Anyhow the moral of this story is people and expecially kids on the net are very impatient and can be downright nasty, it gets worse every year, it is not getting better. But thats how it is, thats just how things are. You either live with it, do something about it or get out while you can. I think a layer of protection between the developer might go along ways in this situation. Its sad to see the losers win in this situation, and we lose another great developer for a phone i happen to really like alot.

Gonna throw my 2 cents in here, since I have been involved with Root/Eris development since the first trys months ago, and WinMo Development for years.
Flaming and Noobs attacking the Devs has ALWAYS happened, and I doubt it will ever stop.
It is a sad and unfortunate part of all online threads.
But lets all be grownups about it.
If you put yourself out there to the public, chances are there are going to be some users that flame and annoy and that are just downright rude.
In the end though, its just word on a computer screen!
It can hurt the ego at times, I know, I have been there on many a project.
But in the end, nobody can control another persons happiness except for that person.
Jcase like many others before him is learning this now, and I wish him the best and hope that he comes back.
But lets not make a huge drammatic issue over it.
In my eyes this is exactly what the Flamers/Abusive users want.
So lets all just take a deep breathe, put this behind us, and move on :)

After all, Verizon did just make an informal announcement :)

Well I dont dev. I help people out. And feel I do help many people out on this board but just after reading what some loser kiddie with leak said, Im really thinking about leaving this board as well. Too many damn lil whinney ass kids. I deal with it at work and I will start to treat this board the same way. Not helping it out. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with what you are saying 100%. patience and kindness are virtues that, unfortunately, not too many people have these days. I do hope you stick around, you have been extremely helpful to me before. If you do decide to leave, thanks for being so helpful.

I have only had my eris for less than 3 months, it is the first smart phone I have ever had and thanks to the devs and other very helpful people, I have rooted and am now enjoying my phone more than I ever thought I would. Please people, read what has been laid out for you. The devs do the hard work and even write up great, step-by-step tutorials. All you have to do is follow them and then enjoy your phone! The devs do not owe us anything so be patient with them and be sure to thank them for spending their personal time to make things for us all to enjoy.

Thank you to all of you devs that work hard to make our phones better.

Thanks, I really do enjoy these forums. Despite some of the people who are on here, I have found many people who are both knowledgeable and love to help people. There is some nonsense on this board but I just sift through it.

Enjoy your vacation, it will be better without the phone anyway :)
