Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy SII VS. Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE, LTE or no LTE?

Hey guys,

I'm signing up with Virgin Mobile soon and I've got a bit of a dilemma on my hands, because while the G SII is a better phone, the Victory 4G LTE has the LTE support that the G SII doesn't have, so my question is, should I get the lesser Victory that has LTE, or is Sprint's LTE not quite good enough to warrant getting a lesser phone, people are saying that LTE should have coverage identical to 3G by the end of 2013, but is that a true promise? In other words, I prefer the G SII in almost every way to the Victory, but since the G SII is not compatible with LTE, should that be a good enough reason to downgrade to the Victory?

I think these days my phone is almost always connected to some Wi-Fi. When it's not the 3g seems to be fine for normal internet stuff. The s2 is a darn nice phone.

Yeah, we sound pretty similar, because about the most taxing thing I do on 3G is watch YouTube videos, and it handles those pretty well, as far as more demanding stuff, I either use Wi-Fi or just use a far superior computer, so I'll probably never take advantage of the full LTE experience.

Well I know some people with LTE and it's really convenient. When I'm getting dismal 3G speeds trying to load one web page they're busy browsing the web and watching videos. I guess it all really depends on your area though and how fast the 3G is there. I'm not going to lie though the S2 is a pretty great phone and I'm really happy with it because now there's wifi almost everywhere. Maybe wait a month or two and see what other LTE phones might come out on Virgin. You never know we could get something like the S3 or Evo LTE.

Well, as I've said on a different thread, I'm actually quite content with the 3G speeds where I live (I get pretty good coverage), and maybe it's just me, but I don't think I need a phone that's faster than my computer, and I've been reading that Sprint won't be shutting down their WiMax towers until 2015 and since I keep a phone 1.5-2.0 years on average, in that period of time Virgin Mobile and/or Boost Mobile should have a better selection of LTE phones, as you mentioned.

If that's the case I guess it all really comes down to if you want the bigger or smaller screen. Not to mention the victory i believe has an lcd panel while the s2 has a super amoled one.

It's coming out in different countries, and there is a leaked virgin mobile that can be flashed. I suppose if it's been leaked it must come out officially sometime. I flashed a new Rom every week when I had the triumph, but ics is so smooth on this phone I'll wait till it comes out with no bugs

I have the Victory and it came with Jellybean. It received an update and all phones are now being shipped with it.

Battery life is insane on the Victory. The stock battery is as good as the extended 3800mah extended battery on my S2. I am shocked at how excellent battery life is on it.

I use wifi most everywhere too.. home, work, friends house.

My problem is the fastest ISP here is around 2.8mbps. We have Windstream that offers up to 12mbps but they have oversold so speeds are near unusable. So for me, LTE will be the fastest internet service provider in town LOL

Guess what you guys VM's Samsung Galaxy S2 4G just got the JB update! I already upgraded mine

First I downloaded Kies to my computer SAMSUNG KIES
Then up updated my Kies to the newer version
Then I opened up the program and connected my USB to the computer and my smarphone
Then I waited for Kies to recognize my device.
Then Kies asked me if I want to upgrade to the new firmware upgrade
I clicked yes and followed all the prompts then the uploading started & had to wait till it was completed, then it downloaded to my phone then I had to wait for that to complete then once it was done the phone rebooted and I had JB on it. So awesome!
